My 944 For Sale....Pic's
Ok, i have been looking for a 87+ turbo red or black no more then 75K miles to add to my Porsche addiction, however the wife does not allow 2 toys in the garage, just one so now my car is for sale. I need fellow rennlist people to give me advice. What is a realistic price to expect getting out of my car and other then posting a thread"For Sale" What other alternatives are good? Ebay? Car has 82K on the clock and i have spent alot of money to get it up to snuff. New timingbelt, thermostat etc...Got alot of receipts. Mechanically it runs amazingly good and visually it looks like a well cared for 5 year old car. Since i became a member here people know how i baby this car. I am expecting the sale to take a while (unless someone buys it right away) so i still have time to enjoy driving it. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks for your help in advance.

Seven max. thats why it is always better to buy a car from the guy that just restored it.
You would probably be better off putting the old rims back on and selling the 968s separately.

that is certainly a gorgeous car.
if you find that you'd loose too much money selling and upgrading to a 951, i hope you'll consider keeping her and perhaps running an SFR supercharger to make up for the power loss.
i guess i'm tired of seeing everyone fall victim to the "sell your car and buy a 951" philosophy.
i think your situation presents the perfect oppurtunity to take the path less travelled.

I wanna say 7000 but you are now in the Turbo range which doesn't help you. It's one of the nicest looking 944's I have see pictures off lately. You probably should get 5500-6000$ if you wait long enough and maybe more if you wait longer for the bass to bite.

Well most times items on ebay esp. Porsche stuff sell for more then it's worth. I sold an 1988 924S last xmas for 4000$. It had 89k on it and just had new belts and the works done to it.

I'm selling mine as well,
and I'm not taking any less than $6000. My car is also an N/A in similar condition as yours. As a 944 owner, I happen to think that we need to start asking more for these cars, especially if they're in excellent condition with thousands spent on engine rebuilds, etc. It's becoming more and more difficult to find these cars in good working condition, especially ones that are from the original owner and include all service records. We need to stop selling ourselves short. If you'd like to take a look at my auction:

W/O those good lookin' C2's on it, I think you might ask for $6500 and take the first $6k you can get. That is a really top-notch 944!
If you aren't one for modifying, don't be surprised if you change your ways when you get the 951. The sheer ease of modification entices 95% of the owners out there... ok, well I pulled that number from you know where, but they really do! If I were in your position, I'd be tempted to follow ljd's advice for a boost-fix. Not many 944's are supercharged. Your car is almost to good to part with.
Either way, you can't go wrong, so best of luck selling it! I hope we can find it a good Rennlist-home

Hey Lowcountry944 nice looking car. I know what you mean and yes these cars are worth that much just people aren't paying that much for them unless someone like us rennlisters comes and buys it for that much because it's actually a steal. Just something you might want to add to get more people interested in your car is more pictures. Put as many pictures as you can of every spot of the car. People that are buying on the internet/ebay want to get a good look at what they are going to be spending there money on. IMHO anything on ebay will sell for more with pictures then a long write up.

Antonio,
the problem you are going to find with these boards, and with any board is the most of the time the people on the board already have a car, or dont have the $$ to buy a decent car.
I was the high bidder a few months ago on an 87with I think 72k. I won the auction at 5600 but the reserve was 8000. For an NA. I looked at an 86 NA last year with 48k on it. original belts, new tires & brakes. Maybe $500 to make the body & interior perfect. He wanted 7000. the board said 3500 and I offered 4500. Needless to say I ended up with the Z28.
I know an 89 NA with 40k, original belts and clutch, one dash crack, and the rest mint is worth 7k in todays market in the NY metro area. I also know an 87 S that I saw on autotrader with 80k miles, fuchs (wrong offset) and a sub in the hatch was worth only about 6k without the wheels or sub to the person that paid 7 for the 89.
To the right buyer you may get 7k, but like seb said 7k is low S2/951 money. not knocking the cabrios, but when people are quoting high teens or low twenties, they are going to have to wait for a buyer because they are in boxster, carrera cab and five year old 3 series territory.
