IF you've got oil mixing in the coolant, is can be anything from a bad oil cooler seal or a bad head gasket, or a cracked head! (I've got the cracked head, as most of you know...)

It was a pleasure to meet all you guys. With the dyno showing the numbers it was, it was no point in doing any pulls.
I took a few shots and will post later tonight. Sorry for the delay. Things have been quite hectic.

I WISH the dyno numbers were correct, but in my case they were about 50% too high. From the look of the "Dyno Wars" board, others also appear to be off by 30-50%.

Seems like they sorted it out after a few cars, the 86 Carrera they ran seems about correct as did Winslow's car.

Heh -- I was thinking that the first shot in Martin's post looked familiar. That's my gray 951 behind the red 944 and silver 996. I'm sorry that I didn't run into more of you guys at the event. I had to take off a bit after 12:00. I think that the highlight of the event for me was picking over that black 944 parts car on the trailer. For $10 I got a replacement fuel rail cover, various little caps and tie downs, some interior trim, several spare switches (including a headlight switch), and a bunch of spare *****.
Andy -- That would be a whole lot of oil to be losing into the cooling system. It only holds 2 gallons. Besides Tom's recommendation of checking it every day for a couple of weeks, you might try putting the car on stands, taking off the undertray, and letting it idle while you take a look. The oilpan gasket would be a good bet as a source for that much loss. It can be hard to spot leaks in these cars because of the undertray -- when you're actually moving, a leaky oilpan gasket will let a bunch of oil out and onto the road.

Martin, thanks for the kind words and congrats on the exhaust. My allergies were bothering me for the rest of the day after crawling around in that heap -- I can't imagine what was hiding in the exhaust. Speaking of a vulture fest, while I was collecting clips and bits, another fellow was removing the windshield washer reservoir with a hacksaw. If I didn't see it, I might not have believed it.

My boss had a good point. I had the oil changed at my mechanic a month back. I never checked the level till the warning light came on. Could be he didn't top off the oil, and when the oil ran through the filter, it got lower, resulting in the warning light a month later?
Z--Your Powertech fixed my very slight oil in the coolant leak last summer. That's not where the oil is going--I hope!
I'll check the oil once a week to make sure, but I'm hoping my boss is right, and my mechanic under-filled it by half a quart.
