$20,100 RESERVE NOT MET! 968 Cab
So what's the consensus - seller on a fishing expedition or auction fever? Seems like 2 bidders were pretty serious on trying to get this car.
It's a nice low mileage 92 Cab, but for $20K+ that's Boxster territory already... but then again, maybe it's a good sign for 968 owners!

Low mileage 968's are rare, and will hit 25K pretty easy. A nicely optioned 968 was well over 10K more expensive than a stock Boxster too. I wouldn't trade my car for a new Boxster S, and many 968 owners feel that way as well.

yep, that's what my thoughts are too - just spoke to a local guy who works in a Porsche specialist shop here, and they have a new customer - 3rd owner of a 94 968 coupe with 7, 200 miles on the clock! Apparently, 1st owner won it in a contest and basically never drove it, and the 2nd owner bought it for his wife who was afraid to drive it since it was so perfect! Lucky 3rd owner - even if it is a coupe and not a cab!

If you go to the seller's website, he's asking $24.9K there. I'd say that's not too high if the car is truly that good. $20.1K would be a low-ball bid.

At 25k you are also in Carrera territory from the back of Road & Track & Panorama. And you know the low price cars are advertised there. That cuts the market of potential buyers significantly.
I recently looked at a very clean early dash 944 with very low miles LSD and sport seats in a bad color. He can't get 6k for the car. If he spent the extra $10k on a base Carerra he would have turned down the difference in sticker price a few times.

Hey does anyone have the link for this car? It sounds like it was my father-in-law's red/tan 968 cab. He is an inactive rennlist member and i posted the car for sale for him in the classifieds a few weeks back.
The car is really beautiful...

My dad has a 92 968 Cab for sale, has been for 2 years. It's got 42,000 miles and he's asking around $24,000.00.
He's had a hell of a time selling it, despite the fact that it is a beautiful car. Also, another reason it's been hard to sell is someone at 968.org was interested, took it out for a PDI, and the shop that did it IMHO has their head up their ***... (I took my car for belts there once, and then what do ya know? Idler pulley on backwards, nearly destroyed the new belt, engine, etc..etc..etc... Luckily a f*ck up of my own Jammed the flywheel and kept it from running...but just from cranking it about 12 times, the belt was starting to shred). They told this guy that it needed tires, clutch, complete variocam replacement, belts (which is true), and they showed him that the exhaust was all f*cked up (which was a dent on the exhaust tip), so what does this guy do? He goes on 968.org and tells EVERYONE that we are a bunch of crooks and tried to rip him off. since then, nobody who knows 968's has looked...and the other people think the price is WAY too high for a 12 year old car...

Up here in Canada, I've seen a couple of 968 coupes with around 65 to 80 K miles. The asking is around $20K US and they are not moving.
One dealer (very specialty type place) has had a 92 coupe with 24 K miles and in very superb shape on sale for around $24K US. It has not moved either (for a long time). That ebay car looked more in the line of this one, so it seems pricing on this particular model is similar on both sides of the border. The frustrating thing about 968s (and all the 944 family) -for the seller- is that they are very undervalued for what they are and consequently hard to sell for anything close to their intrinsic value. This is good for the buyers though!
