And lets not forget that "cop" I think I was doing 200km/h past that

Was this just after my dad and I split off from the group at the gas station? We was heading down the road doing about 80mph and I saw the cop crest the next hill. I nailed the brakes, so I'm not sure if he got me on radar. Luckily, I didn't get pulled over. We had JUST left you guys too.

No this was as Rich and I were flying along to Hells Gate by ourselves. I was doing prolly about 120MPH, Rich following. I suddenly saw him fall behind, wasnt sure why but I kept going. He told me later he saw blue and red flashing lights... But it was some dumbass kids in a SUV. Good thing it wasnt a real cop

What a wicked trip. Definately an adventure! The calgary nuts made it home OK, Travis, thank your mom again for us for lending out the control arm. You also need to send me a PM with your address so we can get it back to you. Marc's car felt better than going there, I guess the alignment was a bit off, and the offroad excursion fixed it or something haha.

My car felt worse coming home, almost ran out of gas, got $15 at Chevron 94 in Kamloops (where I suspected I got bad gas) to get to the next station. Got to Revestoke, and filled up with Chevron 94 there. Checked the oil there, and noticed what looked like very light coolant mist in the oil. It didn't smell like coolant, so we kept going. At Golden, we topped off fuel again, checked the oil, and the milky film got worse. Again, didn't smell like coolant. Tested various boost levels, and man, it knocks like mad. That **** at the Chevrons in the mountains must be like 89 octane. Running 12psi, light knock, Running 16psi, *insane* knock. I have my boost controller "off" now so I'm running a whopping 7psi, and no knock.

I'm guessing the fuel is watered down or something and there's water getting to the oil under boost. I'll know for sure next tank of gas.

A few lessons learned on this trip...

1. Gas in the mountains suck ***.
2. When passing a cop in single lane mountain roads going 150, they really can't do much .
3. Driving with out of province plates and license basically gives you a license to drive like a jackass
4. Vancouver roads are really slippery when wet
5. The Vancouver gang of 944'ers are the nicest people I've ever met
6. I'm DEFINATELY coming back next year!

This was a very very fun trip, thank you so much guys ... We had a wonderful time. I didn't get much over 155, which was a bit disappointing but then I short-shifted because of the oil my S4 ingests at near redline (new engine arrives tomorrow and sc gets here Saturday ).

Either way, I know Lizard had a fun ride, he surely had a perma-grin, and we continued to have a very good relaxing time up at his place. Thanks Lizard for your great hospitality and that of your parents.

We 928 dudes met some old online friends (Glenn and Jim and Ken again) and made some great new friends (Steve and co). I must say, you 944/951/952/968/924 guys KNOW how to keep up .....

hhmmm.... Lance, tried East Hastings lately???

Rage2 - too bad about the bad 94 juice! I just did an Okanagan wine trip last weekend and the Chevron 94 in Kelowna and Hope were fine - no knock at 18 psi. No mist either on my oil cap. So maybe it was the latest delivery. Not good! Hope it didn't hold you up too much.

We've got a few great roads in the mountains here, and some of the non-toll roads are really something else now - very little traffic, and much better tarmac that doesn't get the pounding from all those 18 wheelers. We'll get Travis working on the Great Circle Tour - maybe starting in Kamloops or somewhere closer to Calgary so you start and finish closer to home next time. How's about a 2 day event with a few interesting overnight stops along the way?

Travis is already working on next year's event. We'll make him the Grand Marshall or something suitable.... we gotta get some in car camera mounts too.

The race to the border was almost as fun as the trip itself, sine we woke up at 5am and trying to make the border by 6am. Lots of highspeed running (150+ mph) with minimal traffic.

Our arrival at the border was uneventful for the two S4 owners, however I was detained for a while since I did not bring a passport or my birth certificate. They did let me cross though and I was soon racing down the Canadian landscape with like minded speed hungry Porsche owners.

Hells Gate was a good meeting place and getting our own parking area was fantastic! I'll definately try to make the next meet.

If they do this next year, there will be pictures of the '89 944 that was formerly known as the xsboost machine included in the group.
