I hope that is not your 944 in those pics, because that is quite horrific. I am sort of new here but I assume that is a joke of course cause it is really funny. If your're not joking, I'm sorry

Were's the rice!? I finally open this thread expecting to waste some time looking at funny rice cars and all I see are cool pictures of rally cars. Especially like that one where you wonder if the photographer survivied!

Hang on for just one moment, I have to hijack this back for a minute.

That cannot be said about the NSX, then or now. It did not stand above its peers or even "inferior" cars.

Today's fast cars run in the 12s. The NSX just doesn't have the guns to compete in this war. But I'll say again, it's a great handler.

Uh oh, hp/liter, now that is a rice argument . Who cares how you make the ponies? As we all know, what's important is how much horsepower you have relative to how much weight you have to slog around. NSX = 250 hp / 3200 lbs. = .078 hp/lb. Z06 = 405 hp / 3250 = .125 hp/lb. 911 turbo = 415 hp / 3500 lbs =.118 hp/lb. 911 GT3 = 380 hp / 3200 lbs = .118 hp/lb. Even my porky TA vert is 380 / 3750 = .101 hp/lb. As you can see, the NSX is quite anemic in this measure.

Imagine if... You'll have to imagine, because Honda is allergic to displacement and RWD (the big problem with the current TL).

As for holding value, perhaps, but I don't buy cars as an investment. I don't think any of us 924/944/968 owners can say that, can we? Otherwise we'd be driving Camrys and Volvos.
Actually, when it was first introduced it was quite competative compared to offerings from other manufacturers. It may have been in the 5s to 60 and 14 second 1/4 mile, but the Vette didn't do any better (5.6 to 60, 14.1 second 1/4), nor did the Z-28 (6.5 to 60, 15 second 1/4), and for that matter some Ferraris of the day didn't do much better if at all. In fact it was on par with the C2 and 968 in its day.

As to that rice argument, our Civic EX has a better power to weight ration than my 924S and a nearly equal hp per liter ration. Too bad our Civic puts it down to the ground through a slush box

OK, return to the original hijack, more pictures please

Default American classics

Here are a few American classics from the late 70s.

Buffum's TR-7 (maybe TR-8 by this time), Millen's 4wd (YES! 4WD!) RX-7 and my Dad's 4wd (YES! 4WD!) ahhemm, Dodge Aspen...

The black and white photos were taken at POR in 78, by Tim Winker, and the color shot was taken by Dave Mulder at a rally in lower Michigan in 76 or 77. (will update when I dig up the info).

Oh - extra bonus.... Hendrik Blok's Arrow (also from 78 POR).
