It isn't the top mount that is the problem, it is the lower mount. The lower mount on the trailing arm of a late 944 or 951 is in single sheer which is widely accepted by race engineers as being an absolute no-no. If you look at the trailing arm for a 937 or a 933 (SCCA D-production 924) you will see that not only is the trailing arm completely boxed in an heavily reinforced, but that the lower shock mount is in double sheer as well as being reinforced.

The left picture is from the GT and the right is from the DP. Thanks to 924.org who had the pictures handy.

By the way, from everything I have read Porsche used Bilstein in all of the 933s and 937s.

I've heard some people say the Bilstein Turbo Cup's are made for slicks and too hard for street tires? Can anyone comment on that?

Too subjective, man. They are stiff. I like mine with 375 front and 250 or 275 rear with t-bars on the street. I can feel the cigarette butt.

I was actually not talking about comfort. I meant that I've heard that they're to hard to work good in combination with regular tires.

The Escort kit Lindsey sells are valved for something like 500 front i think? But perhaps the shocks work fine with lower rates.

There I can give you a definite NO. They are awesome in handling with Mich. pilot sports. Just watch the holes.

The tire is just another piece of the suspension. Slicks, DOT-R race tires, and performance street tires will all make different use of suspension upgrades. IIRC, the Bilstein Escort fronts are valved 600/190. This really has little to do with tire choice - given that most tires on this sort of upgraded car will be running 17" or 18" with a very low profile. Spring rates can even be quite excessive and still perform well with a performance street tire. The only real important factor will be your alignment settings - for that, every tire is different - and, a race slick may want -4 while a street tire may want -1.5... big diff.

Very soon - just waiting on the front top hats. Setup is the same as others list - we'll use Hypercoil springs and probably include the Racer's Edge rear bottom bolt.

if theres a group buy, I'm in! why are hypercoil springs better then the eibachs lindsey seems to use? I think their eibachs are ground control arent they? so it will include camber/caster plates et al?
BTW, amazingly quick responce! You run a great operation!

Springs are springs, arguably. We just happen to deal primarily with Hypercoil so that's always our first choice. You will have to use camber plates with them, but there are a few choices when it comes to that.

I'm sure we'll be in contact in the comming weeks! But honestly, would there be enough interest in a group buy, or should i not even thread THAT territory?
