I'm currently running a full Bilstein Escort setup right now and it's really awesome! I went from the Turbo S suspension. Yeah, the car's a little harsh on the road, but I also track my car and can deal with a stiff setup.

I have the shocks matched up with 400lb. 9 inch and 550lb. 8 inch Hypercoil springs, deleted torsion bars (need to upgrade to those Elephant Racing spring plate bushings when they come out), M030 968 sway bars (rear set to middle), Lindsay Racing camber plates, and Brey-Krause strut bar. Alignment is: -2.5deg camber all around, some toe-in in the rear.

The car handles very neutrally on the track and is very predictable, but like I said before it's harsh on the road.

Oh yeah, I'm also running the stock Club Sport wheels with Toyo Proxes RA-1's (225/50/16 Front and 245/45/16 Rear), the ones in my avatar are heavy *** knock-off C2's which suck. I'm hoping to get some 17 inch Fiske FM10's over the winter with 255/40/17 Front and 275/35/17 Rear still running the RA-1's cause I'm on some what of a budget

<----- The avatar is my car with the current setup, minus the wheels, at Watkins Glen - Turn 7. That's the right hand 90 at the top of the boot.

Try to organise a (long) drive or passenger ride in the setup of your choice before making the final selection. Once you've chosen something you're going to have to live with it for a long time.

If you aren't going to be doing the installation yourself reserve another $1000 for installation costs including corner weighting and tracking.

The rule of thumb with rollbars is that increasing the stiffness (typically a function of the thickness) of the rollbar introduces a bias to slide on those wheels. So increasing the thickness of the rear rollbar while not increasing the thickness of the front will introduce massive oversteer. So it's not a good idea to just install the rear M030 rollbar - unless you want to enter drifting competitions.

Just asking, but the Koni adjustable suspention is not a good set up for the track?

I heard that they are the only 'true' shocks/struts out there.............

yes, i'm pretty aware of this. but considering the front is 25.5 and the rear would be 19 instead of 18, and the car has plenty of understeer now (all stock 951's do) I figure it will neutral it up a bit! I mean 30 in front is massive!

Eyal - too bad you are in Ca. My car has escorts right now with 19mm in rear and 26.5 in front. It would nice if you could drive the exact setup you want.

Running just a larger rear bar depends on what spring rates you run.... I ran my S2 with the 19mm rear bar, but had 400lbs springs in the front and a 350 helper in the rear..... The car felt great......

STAY AWAY FROM JIC_MAGIC, GROUND CONTROL!!!!! they are garbage!!! **** curves/forces/lags and the adjuster DO NOT WORK..... I have seen plenty of dyno curves........

You can get the shocks and spring for about $1500.00

Actually, you can get the Escort setup from eshocks.com for ~$1350 or the Firehawk for ~$1150. http://eshocks.com/bil_vehR.asp?Mode...sche+944+Turbo

To the best of my knowledge, this does not include springs, spring hats, bump stops, etc. It still appears to be much cheaper than Lindsey's setup ($2200). There may be a good reason for this...is my math right?

Is the Escort setup designed to work without torsion bars? How do the rear shocks mount? Is it spherical or rubber?

The struts have interal bump stops, dunno if the rears have any??

You need to get m52x1.5?? spring hardware for the front , but I think the rears come equipt with it...

The last time I was in the eshocks.com shop the 944 set I saw had hardware on it but I would not count on it......

Eshocks.com will send you 1 adjuster nut for rearand the top hat with bump rubber. You will need the perch (1 perch + 1 adjuster/lock nut)

in the front - internal bump and 1 adjuster nut, you will need the perch AND the hat.
The best setup is 2.25 for front, though you can use 2.5 inch for front. 2.25 may help you in the future if you want to run steamroller tires.

The Kokeln top hat is the best choice. You can get 2.25 or 2.5. Both sizes will work with stock shock mounts or with camber plates. The Kokeln hat are $60 a piece.

So that would come to about $1600 for the complete setup, all material expenses, right? I guess Lindsey includes camber plates.

Hmmmm...maybe I should sell my Konis+GC+30mmTorsion setup that I have waiting on my shelf. Is the Bilstein stuff much better than the Koni setup? I wouldn't mind deleting the torsions.

Lindsey is giving you camber plates AND hats for front. So it probably works out, if you want those ground control plates that take 3/4 inch of shock travel away from your front.

As I've said before, I went with the Firehawk setup, plust 968 M030 sways, plus kokeln camber plates and strut brace (and new bushings). The final bill, installed and aligned, was just short of $4K, which is like $2.5K parts and $1.5K labor.

All in all, it's way more car than I can presently handle. (That's a good thing.) If you are interested in getting the work done and aligned by professionals who really care about your car, I can give you the number of my mechanic in Hunington Beach.

Good luck with your decision and enjoy! See you at the track!
