That is terrible.I'm really sorry man. If you are planning to rebuild, i know a short black at wholesale cost 4008 bucks. As for long block i am not sure. So best of luck to you.

I kind of figured. That sucks.

You sure you want to start with a bare block?

I know of a rebuilt 2.5L in town, on a stand, ready to install. It's not cheap, but it is already rebuilt. Just a thought.

I know the seller of that motor. His is fellow 944-spec racer. Built by a local shop for 944-spec racing. Certainly not a power house race motor(figure +10 hp maybe), but at the same time probably more money into it that you need for a street car.

For what it is worth simple rebuild of a motor will cost you about $700-1000 just for seals main and rod bearings all the the little stuff.

And yep... that block is toast. Sorry hear about your loss.

David, I just got off the phone with David in Dallas, the original motor I was speaking of is sold, but Dave, another mutual friend has one that is running, but needs to be pulled. David will be in town this weekend, if you are interested, he'd be willing to pull it. Let me know.
