Man I can't believe that.......

It's like seeing somebody one day and then hearing they dropped dead the next day. I mean we all just saw you a few nights ago......

I will dig up that guys number with the automatic for sale in Spring Branch. Between the 2 cars I'm sure you could get yours running and make some money on the extra parts.

If you find a motor, either here locally or even Oklahoma, Louisiana etc. I've got the truck, and would be willing to help you haul it back. Just let me know.

Keep the faith and keep the RED rolling

David, I have an engine hoist, and stand. If you can find the motor to drop in it, have the car towed here, I can call a friend who can do it cheaply. We can get James to get the motor here, and we'll make a project of it. Between all of us, this should be relatively easy to get done. If you want to rebuild the current motor, I'd be willing to work on it on my days off. Lets just get the car up here. I'm off on Tuesday of this week, call me at home 281 288 1740.

Sorry to hear this.

David, I just sent an email to a friend in Dallas who is a dismantler. He has a motor w106K. I asked him how much he would want for it, maybe he'd be interested in trading the Nova for the motor? I'll let you know what I find out. PM me with your phone #

Sorry to hear of it. I've been under such a time crunch I don't know if I'll be able to offer any help. I agree with George, that's a very clean car and well worth the effort to do the motor.

That sucks.

August 26, 2003:

Man, I remember that sick sound engine#1 made too well. The belt skipped three teeth, because I failed to adjust the belt like Porsche advised. I was doing 75 on the freeway too, until I hear a gnarly metal-to-metal collision then....psssshh...with a massive Batman smokescreen pouring out my rear. It was so embarrassing- I sat inside my car until all the cars I passed earlier laughed by me. The belt didnt break- just stretched like a ****. The grenading motor resulted in the #4 cylinder valves hammering the piston until it shattered, shearing a valve and raining piston nuggets down the crankcase. The #4 cylinder bank just fragmented like a broken vase.

Replacement engine #2 was a boneyard baby, that sat idle in a dusty yard for almost four years. It was a 1987 S motor I picked-up for $800. Once I started it, the lifters were so clackin' loud I poured just about any kind of emulsifying agent to quiet the noisy cam. In reality- the motor was so sludged, and gummed up- the oil in the case dried to a crusty gorilla snot glue. When I returned to the yard that sold me the mummified motor....they closed their doors! My luck...

(Lucky)Engine #3 is an $80 1983 eBay block that I had the crank polished, balanced and knife-edged, with a fat cross-drilled hole in the #2 and #4 cylinders. The head is off an 87' with all new valves, a three-angle grind , and turbo lifters. Doing it right this time- I replaced every seal, gasket, hose.....even the Cadmium-dipped bolts and fasteners. I tapped the 83' block to accept the later 85.5-up coolant temp sensor, and TDC Hall sensor pickup too. the only thing it differs in is the oil capacity is 4.5qts now. If the engine starts- I will post a pic of it on the 'list.

just got back from my mechanics place, turns out I threw a rod through the block, it is undetermined whether the head is damaged or not. I found a used block on Ebay for $50, located in Denver,CO. This would be something I could build on. Question: How much does a bare 944 block weigh? I need to know to factor in shipping costs. thnx
