What is this thing?
It's got a button, and has two wires exiting it, I don't remember the colors.
What is it, and what is it's function?

I was thinking that was for the factory alarm, or for the under-hood light on later cars. Not totally sure...but I know I don't have it.

I could be wrong, but I think someone once said it is for the factory alarm (the hood lights are driven by a mercury switch instead).

I have a related question... do all cars, even those that came without an alarm have the bracket for the switch?
