Default Rear bumper options

Alright, here's the deal. I finally am getting my car into the body shop to fix the damage from back in April. Well I wanted to have them repaint the rear bumper at the same time (a lot of paint was buffed off of it). While in the process of removing the rear bumper, I snapped off several of the studs holding the bumperettes and the two end caps on. The studs were so rusted, that just touching them with the socket made them snap off like nothing. Anyways, here's my choices:

1) Fix the studs - 6 in bumperettes, 4 in end caps(if so, how & how much?)
2) Go for the 'smooth' look by just filling in the mounting holes for the bumperettes, if so....what do I do about the end caps?
3) Euro Rear Bumper (we can all dream, right?....too bad we can't get them in the US....why did we get the ugly one anyways?)
4) Aftermarket Rear Bumper (any good ones out there?)

you might try talking to Vince Ponz on 924board.org, for a while he was importing euro front and rear bumpers for the 924 and he might be able to get some euro 944 rears.

For whatever it's worth, while I prefer the clean look of a bumper without the bumper guards, I've been tapped enough times to appreciate that they look better than the dings that would have been there in their absence.

Hell, when I was babysitting the 911 I had this very debate with a roommate. Not three days later another roommate came home one night and parked her car right into the 911's rear bumper guards. They did their job and no damage was done...

After seeing the GT-Racing bumper on Sam Grant's car I can highly recommend it. It is almost identical in size and shape to the euro bumper I have on my car. The only difference is the black rubber strip on the euro bumper. If you want that look you can get the rubber strip from 944online for around $85.

Click on "The S2 Project" link in my sig to see pics of the euro bumper for comparison.

i sent my bumper to a guy who welded up the aluminum bumper holes and then i sanded the bumper smooth( w/ alittle filler work). For the bumperettes i found some similar eurethane from a bumper that was junk and cut out pieces to fit the little holes and epoxied them in w/ 3M epoxy seringe*- a two part epoxy you mix together for plastic, eurethane glass etc repair. Some sanding and primer/ paint and wala.

I'm getting a euro 924S front bumper for my car, if you are really interested in picking up a rear one let me know. I'll point you in the direction of where to look...

You could also ask Tifo where he picked up his from, also someone else in NJ has a rear euro bumper on a 951 i think. They are out there, you just need to look a little.

Good Luck!

I hate you. Naw, j/k, but that's an awesome find. Off to ebay I go...

I'll also look up the GT racing one. Damien, do you have any pics of it from a little further away? Also, will the stock exhaust stick out much past it?

note- the 24 bumper will not fit correctly w/o some modification to match up w/ the rear quarters, tifo has a euro 44 bumper, petes is a 24 that has been "flared" to match. GT racing bumper is very nice but not near as sturdy.
