Default Michigan GTG

Planning a Michigan GTG for July 31st around 1:00PM at my place in Adrian Michigan (1/2 hour north of Toledo Ohio). Trying to see what kind of interest there is in something for the 31st (Saturday). Plenty of room to drink, be social, and work on cars if need be, also have my project car if people are feeling bored that we could get moving on. If anybody wants to stay the night I have plenty of floor space as well. It will be a rockin good time...

Nooooo, I have to work again that weekend. If you decide anytime in August I can ask for the day off.

Anybody want to have a Clutch Changing party? I think there's enough life left in it to drive down there. Think we could do it in ~4 hours? It'd be a new Porsche World Record!

I'm guessing the answers to those questions are NO, so I'll probably have my car up on jackstands in the garage around that time next month.

I will see if my wife will let me out again, if so, I would be happy to. Dan - if no one else objects, I dont see why we couldnt do a clutch.

I agree, because we will take it and put it on my car just for missing another. Ask you boss for that weekend off and work the days you had off for that week instead? Tell him its a urgent family matter.

Matt,
If you guys feel you can do the clutch in "4 hours" by all means go ahead, I will probably be doing more socializing than working. Bring any specialized tools that it requires because more than likely I do not have them for a clutch (never done one). I have two projects I would like to get done, one bleed the clutch (have the power bleeder) on project 951 (been having a heck of a time) and two slap a new t-belt on, its already apart just can't figure out how to time the balance shaft belt and have been lazy lately with this car.

Dan - on an NA a clutch can be done in 4-6 hours with the right tools. On a Turbo, I usually spend that much time on the GD crossover :>)

Neither of your projects should take very long. I had a heck of a time bleeding the clutch on one of these as well, dumped the "speed" bleeder and went the old fashion way, firmed up in mins.

If you guys do decide to do the clutch I'm sure it will be a learning experience for all of us.
I'm still having a heck of time bleeding it even after getting the power bleeder, i'm sure one of you guys can show me what I'm doing wrong.

I was only kidding about the clutch job (kindof). The car is an NA and I did the job myself once before, but I have a list of other things to do at the same time, so it would only make sense to do it all in my garage. Rack rebuild, AC condensor swap, muffler swap (cut and weld), and CV boot replacement. And then theres also some bodywork and paint that will be going on while the car is out of service.

Matt, what kind of "right tools" are you talking about? I didn't use anything unique last time, just an impact gun, and a lot of bending/twisting to wrench in tight spots.

Maybe I'll host another GTG when I have my clutch job lined up. A few cases of beer is certainly worth getting the job done in record time.

Lets see - assortment of extensions/universals. 1/4" sockets. Cheeshead sockets cut down to the right length.

Nothing special, can be donw with hand tools in 4-6. With air tools even less...

Dan - that is about 4 hours from me, will have to check with my wife.
