Ok! I give up trying to post pics for the moment!
Jeeper31/Weissach, I am going to look into the other variants and models to assess the pro's and cons of making a suitable kit. I arrived at making this kit out of the 'dim' problem I had myself, therefore oval dash 944.
944Pete/TB311, honestly I don't know the answer as I have only tested it on the standard black dials, not on white or silver faces! At the moment I could only hazard a guess!
Jonnybgood, the kit is completely new and does not use any existing part other than the bulbs original power supply! And makes the existing set up redundant.
Ok, so the price....
In the UK they will be £130. If there are enough takers now, say no fewer than five, then p+p included, the cost would be £95. Anyone still reading this.....?

It looks like a very high quality kit but $175 is out of my range at the moment. Maybe in a few months.
Hopefully by that time someone with white gauges will try it so I can see how it looks.

I have the Perry951 LED array in my 951S ($100) and also the LED "bulbs" ($70) from the Calgary Rennlister (not installed yet)
I would definitely say that LED's improve the panel lighting a LOT. Compared to the 944 NA which has updated reflectors (new foil), the 951S is amazingly bright - no more guessing at night. And dont worry about the dimming - it does work a little with the Perry951 LED array, but the light is soft on the eyes - not glaring like some of the latest MBZ electro-lumenescent panel lights that are tiring.
Probably worth the $175 as it looks to be well made. Perry951 went through a lot of work casting individual reflectors and then hand finishing them - not the prettiest looking products (sorry Brian) as they were more prototype mode, but the lighting is amazing.

Alternative to Diodes
Read a post in a German forum where I guy has installed Cold Cathode Light tubes in his 944 behind the instruments. These lights don't generate heat.
"These flickerless fluoro tubes produce an incredible amount of light for their tiny size of just 4mm diameter. We have two different lengths available (100mm and 300mm), with 5 colours available in each length (White, Red, Green, Blue and UV Blacklight). "
You have to install an inverter as well, the power comes from a bulb socket. The 300mm lenth seem s the ideal size. It is easy to install, you need a bit of tape and velcro plus a couple of suitable sized 'o' rings.
Cost, roughly $20. I've got the write up in German, but can't be bothered to translate. I'll have a go installing the set up if I get a bit of spare time during the next couple of weeks.

173 is mad expensive. Isnt Zero10's like 50? Or Icesharks around 70? I also have white dials and are waiting for someone to test with them and sell a kit.
