Default 944 mk1 - unidentified disconnected cables

Hi everyone,

I've found these disconnected cables near the firewall on the driver side of my '85 mk1 944; could anyone help me identify what they were supposed to be connected and why they might have been left this way?

driver side firewall - engine side

driver side firewall - engine side (2)

driver side firewall - cabin side

Thanks!

They aren't connected to anything in any car I've seen. When I had my harness out I found the other end of some of them, they didn't go anywhere so I eliminated them. I've heard speculation on what they could've been for but I don't recall what the general consensus was.

believe the single wire by the booster is a dealer diagnostic wire of some kind

the other square plug connector might be hood light ?

The hood light is connected to the inside of the hood. The light has a pigtail on it to plug into the rectangular connector. The light has a mercury switch that connects the circuitry when you raise the hood.😀

Default M1-944 wiring

OK.. the red wire with the black tracer goes to one side of the high pressure switch located on the receiver dryer near the L front headlight. There should be similar wire with a rubber boot that hooks to the existing wire. If you do not have A/C in the car, just ignore the wire. I will try again to post a couple of pics of the under hood light as well as the red wire connection.

Under hood light connection

Under hood light..less bulb

Thanks very much for all the replies!
ok so.. my car does not comes with AC so that black wire engine side should actually be useless in my case if I understood correctly.

About the one that should connect the hood light. I found the bulb housing (was wandering why there was that socket there) but the cable that comes out from that goes to the left inside the hood where it is connected to another cable with a white, wide rectangular connector. I'm not able to find the single cable that should comes down and connect to the green/yellow "blank"...

Default 944 MK-1

I’ll check my wire for color, maybe the engine heat changed it to more of a yellow hue. More later.😀

Default Unidentified wiring

Good to know about the wiring bundle. My car doesn’t have heated nozzles like the later cars do, so I don’t have this bundle…yet. 😀

Default Unidentified wire and connector

Gents: after looking at my car, and consulting the schematic, the yellow and grey wire goes into the pictured T-1 connector. It comes out of the connector as a black wire, going to the engine bay hood light. Just an update.😀
