sorry to bump an old thread but I was googling for evidence that Porsche did infact sue Mazda for the RX7 design similar to the 924/944. this thread was top of the list. any porschefiles know for certain? Reason being i was going to liken it to the Apple/Samsung debacle in another thread.

The RX-7 might be somewhat close but the Nissan 240sx was much closer in look.
As a newly married 24 year old I bought an 1989 240sx coupe new in Feb. 89. Often people would ask me how I could afford a Porsche. I paid $15,500 for it. (Porsche dealers still had new '87 and '88 924s on their lots for well over $25K.) My 240sx had a CD player (a rarity in 89), tape deck, electric everything, tilt wheel, steering wheel controls and the cool digital dash with HUD. It was comfortable, quiet and very reliable. The big downside, the 2.4L motor made a 'massive' 140hp, coupled with an automatic transmission. It wasn't quick off the line by any stretch of the imagination. Truthfully, over the years I have missed it.

Having installed many RX7 parts on my 944, I wonder who designed who's car.
I'll be doing a repeat of this swap in on the 948....

I subscribe to BringATrailer's daily email. Today's email had a thumbnail of what I took to be a black 951. Turned out to be an '87 RX-7

Funny to see this post just now. Just Monday, a late '80's RX-7 Turbo showed up down the street from my house and I did a double-take on it thinking it was a 944.
Love those old RX-7's too!
