Default Porsche sued Mazda?

Hey guys...

I heard a rumor that in the early 80's, Porsche filed a lawsuit agenst Mazda because the design of the RX-6 (I think :P) was so close to the 944.

Is there any truth to that??

Thanks,

Jared

I never heard that Porsche sued Maxda over the RX7.

But I seriously considered buying a RX7 when I bought my 83. That would have been in 86. The RX7 looked a lot like the 944. I remeber saying that looks like a German car.

I chose the 944 because I liked the styling better and the baby seat would fit in the rear.

Rx7 is heavy and has that silly wankel

I remember seeing a TOp Gear comparison between the rx-7 and 924s. They liked the latter a lot more..even though its more expensive.

RX-7 vary by type but were under 3K pounds and within 60 lbs of a 944NA. The exception being the convertible. That silly wankel produces 160HP from 1.3L of displacement. Since piston heads like to double the displacement that makes it the equivalent of 160HP from 2.6L or roughly EXACTLY the same as the NA.

Further, I can pull, rebuild and reinstall a 13B in the time it takes to do a clutch on an NA or a timing belt with rollers on a 951. Did I mention that I can pick up the 13B by hand?

My 924S was once mistaken for an RX-7. I was at a stoplight making a left into my development, two twenty somethings in a white van next to me were looking at my car the entire time. They seemed kinda puzzled as to what it was. I just kinda brushed it off. As the light turn green the driver stuck his head out the window saying "Nice RX-7 Man!". I never got a chance to say it was a Porsche...

if only you had a clue as to what you are talking about. i like a caddy over a chevy, even though it is more expensive.

i had six RX7s, and two 944S2. before answering with a snappy comeback, whats your experience with rx7s?

I doubt they have anything between them now if Porsche did sue them in the past. From what I hear they have become real GOOD friends lately.
