Installing the splitter. He's 4 years old and is his daddy's big helper. What's more he's been pronouncing it PORSHA since he was 18 months. You gotta love a kid with his priorities straight.

Awesome! Although I think he'd attract more customers if he got a new hat.

Nah, he usually only wears that hat when using a MONKEY wrench. He's a real grease MONKEY. Okay, enough with the puns. LOL

ELLSSUU - Man, enjoy that boy. I can't state it strongly enough. He's a handsome kid.

My own kids (a boy and a girl) are BOTH graduating college this month...and I don't turn 50 until December!!! It was tough when they were both little, but got easier as they grew up.

The time you spend doing stuff together on your car is irreplaceable and is the basis for the GREATEST relationship when they're older. My son will call me up and say, "I'm following the coolest looking Targa" (or Viper or Z06 or whatever) and we'll 'talk cars' awhile. We end up talking about all sorts of things. He says I am his best friend. Is there a bigger compliment a man can receive than that? You are on the way to it too, congratulations for being a great Dad!

The ONLY thing of value we leave on this Earth as we pass through it are our children; hopefully the fine/productive persons they become.

Sorry for the soapbox. That picture just took me back a minute. I'd give it all for an hour again with my kids at that age. Enjoy. Everything else is unimportant....well, except for the Porsches, of course :>)

Tools- $$
Parts- $$
Time spent with son wrenching-- PRICELESS!!!!!

Both of mine are grown now, and it might sound silly, but as much as I like wrenching. it's more fun when they're around again.

Given the fact that I'm only 20 myself, and actually still living at moms and dads place...I must not think about such a mechanic for a while...I'd love to wrench with my own son though, in 10 years time or so

My daughter is too young to work on cars, but by the time she's 4 she'll be under the '44. Maybe I should get her to say "944", because everyone's trying to make her say "hemi".

Anyway ELLSSUU you got a cute little kid there.

ELLSSUU, that is a precious kid you have there, and it is awesome that he pronouces Porsche correctly! Dan in Pasadena, I enjoyed and appreciate the reflection you shared with us about your own children. It brought a tear to my eye.

ELLSSUU, cute kid! Now if he helps you throughout the rest of your life, you are lucky!

I myself started to seriously help my dad at age 9.

So, I have no kids. What does that make me, chopped liver!?

Kids may be great to have, but we all cannot be so fortunate. And that is the way it has to be, or we'd overrun the planet in short order.

But then I FORTUNATELY do not base my own value on my reproductive skills.

Devia, NO you are NOT chopped liver. My point was definitely NOT an indictment of childless people.

My point was that nothing material we acquire or attain has any lasting value. In fact YOU are the fine person, the productive peron I was speaking of. No offense meant.

P.S. Maybe you could lighten up a bit. I don't base the value of people on their "reproductive skills" either. Why did my obviously warm memories of my children prompt the kind of response from you that it did?
