Hey guys-

I'm getting some 17" Cup2's refinished & am needing to decide what type of tires to buy- hopefully by the end of next week- I had pretty much decided on Bridgestone RE750s- this is a street car & noise is a big deal to me- I wanted the S03's, but, they seem to be relatively loud, based on some previous posts, AND heavy (based on a tire weight thread)- not to mention, expensive- my car originally came w/some type of Bridgestone that really sucked- can't remember which ones- I had never had good luck w/Bridgstones on my Integra- AVS Intermediates were the best I'd had on that car- anyway, I replaced my Bridgestones w/Dunlops SP8000s after buying the 951 & they were ~2lbs lighter each than the half worn Bridgestones- Are Bridgestones heavier than normal? I really wanted something that would stick a little better than my SP8000's, BUT, they stick okay, are pretty cheap, relatively quiet, AND, have lasted >35k miles- hte fronts have more than 1/3 left- IF I didn't screw w/my suspension... Anyway, I'm now considering the Yokohama AVS Sports & ES100's, Bridgestone RE750's, AND, possibly Dunlop SP8ks' again...

Any input on the above, OR, any other tires for a 951, would be greatly appreciated.... Tire Rack's tests aren't exactly consistent & the customer revues are ALL over the place- might be more a case of different cars & drivers get different results, but... any help would be appreciated....

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3s are the best street tire currently made. Or if you don't want to spend that much ES-100 are a good tire.

It looks to me like the Dunlop SP 9000 is the best dollar/value Max performance street tire available. The 8000 is a little harder, but the 9000 is light also. The f1 and S03 are the absolute highest grippers.

Okay- the ES100- is it as grippy as an AVS Sport? I'm looking closely at both of those, actually, but, Tire Rack shows the ES100 as being less of a performance tire than the Sport...

The SP8000 actually performed better than the SP9000- strange, but true... I'm not sure what most people's impressions are of them though...

I always liked the AVS Intermediates on my old 1st Gen Integra- if the ES100's are stickier & aren't very loud, then, that might be the way to go... I'm leary of going to high into the performance arena, like S03's, b/c of the noisie factor- I don't mind them wearing quickly, but, when they wear TOO fast, are loud, AND cost a fortune, then, it kind of outweighs the performance benefits...for a STREET car....

The ES100 is a DAMN fine tire; I can vouch for this. Grips like a vise.

If the ES100 was as good a tire as the AVS Sport then they wouldnt build the AVS Sport.

BFG K/D very grippy or Michelin Pilot sports.

If you're thinking of even looking at a track, avoid the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3s. My friend chunked his new set on his first day at LRP. We've gotten ~4-5 days out of our ES100's.

I have the S03s. Who said they were loud??? Ive never noticed them being very noisy. They grip VERY well, and they are awesome in the wet! I also have a set of Michelin Pilot Sports. Those have shown awesome grip as well. Their wet handling is as good if not better than the S03s.

How good are falken ZE-512 ZIEX?? Im gonna need new tires soon and i can get them for 44 bucks each.

There's a reason they're going for that price. Hard as a rock, with no traction in the dry and even less in the wet. I replaced the ones that the PO had on it as soon as I could.

Their wet handling is as good if not better than the S03s.

Testing shows otherwise, but they are still a damn good tire.

Unless you're running very very hard cornering on the track, I doubt the difference between the avs 100s and the sports would ever become apparent. I'd have no reservation whatsoever about putting my avs100s on the track even if the sports are a bit stickier - they probably wear a bit better for street use & occasional rain driving too.

I can't see the AVS Sports being much better than the ES100's, based on the Tire Rack tests, although, I don't really trust their tests that much....

What about the ES100 or AVS Sports- anyone know how they compare to AVS Intermediates? I had those on my Integra & loved them- I think they actually grip a tad better than Dunlop SP8000's, but... The SP9000's don't grip as well as 8000s, oddly enough... Yokahamas seem to be much better pricewise too- Not sure about weight- I was all set to buy Bridgestone RE750s, but, I've added enough weight to my wheels by buying Cup 2's- when it comes to weight, I think the Bridestones are the worst, based on what little I've seen & read...

I wouldn't mind trying Pilot Sports, but, I'd have to figure out which ones, since there are like 5 dif types of Pilot's- also, the price- also the noise- I don't understand this- I would THINK A softer compound competitive tire would be quieter, not louder, but, it seems to be the opposite Anyway, when it comes to price, Michelins seem to be the worst- my Integra came w/MXV's BEFORE they changed them & made them worse- they were ~$120/ea in the early 90's, when Intermediates went for ~$80/ea & seemed to be a HAIR better.... It's for this reason (price), that I thikn Michelins are overrated- same w/Pirellis, but.... I COULD be wrong....

depends on what your purpose is. P-Zero'es or Pilot sports- great track tire. sticky as all hell.
