Default New brake calipers

Need to do front brake job on 1987 924s. Including rebuild or replace calipers. Having trouble finding calipers so I can price them relative to rebuild. Googled around but nothing popped up. Anybody point me in right direction? Thank you.

Try calling the local warehouse store for Autozone/Oreilly - they can order rebuilt 944 calipers for around $55/apiece.

Or you can go with these guys - pricey but great reputation.

If you need any cores to exchange I have a spare pair of front calipers I'd sell cheap.

What is the application? I found that my 944 race car floating calipers needed more than a piston seal replacement.
The sliding grooves in the stationary part where corroded as was the slider tongue. The alignment spring were bent as compared to a new spring. The brake pad retaining pins were corroded.

The front pads were not releasing from the rotor and one pad was 50% less remaining thickness compared to it's mate. When I came to a slow rolling stop with the car, the car stop without depressing the brake pedal.

I completely rebuilt and cleaned all deposits in the tongue and groove, replaced all worn parts. I would say the special deal of $350 is a deal. It took me about 3 hours per caliper to return to as new condition

Must be a Rust Belt thing as all the pins/clips/etc on my calipers are still original and not worn down at all.
Seals were done 16 years ago just due to age.

I've used PMB and they came out very nice. I would not trust AutoZone to rebuild brake parts.

Thank you. I’ll try pmb. I know there are important differences between the 924s and 944 brake systems, but do they share the floating caliper?

Autozone is just a reseller. Same with Oreilly/Advance/NAPA. The calipers are rebuilt by Cardone/Nugeon/Raybestos etc.

The 924S and early 944 brake systems are identical - every single part is carried over.

Yes, I know...I'm pretty sure A1 does the vast majority of the house brand stuff. I'd only ever put those on beater cars you're looking to flip. Raybestos is good though. PMB is best, however, as they replate them, giving you as close to a factory-new caliper as possible. All the others will become rusty pretty quick, even after the first rainfall you drive through.
