I need some advice and places to buy some cheap tires (I'm broke and need an alignment). I don't care if they're sh*tty as long as they have good dry weather traction and adequate wet. I really don't want to spend over $60 a tire (Yo es Sr. El cheapo ahora). I can't stand the damn alignment on this car anymore and I want to use my good PD's now.

I dont make offers, I send you a nice discount card in the mail that you can use at any of our stores, there are a ton in NJ. You can pick what you want, depending on what you want, 60 bucks each should be no big deal.

Heh...I think I answered my own question. Looks like I'll go with the Falken Azenis. I had these for a short while on a Jetta and the car could not go fast enough around a corner to make them break loose...but I sold them after only about 1200 miles of driving (sold the wheelset and was too lazy to dismount).
The price is right and the cornering grip was excellent. I think I'll try them again. I can't afford $130 per tire for some of the others anyhow!

"I need recommendations for a 15" tire. All I really care about is sheer grip, and a fair price. Treadwear is irrelevant to me."
Hmmm, ultimate grip would be one of those DOT-approved R-compound tires like the Toyo RA1, Kumho Victor Racers, Hoosiers, Yokohama A032R in new S-compound (Soft?). All of those would be way, way sticker than the Azenis.

I was contemplating buying azenis, but I'm going for the cheapest I can find, if I don't like them they go on the beater and I buy something better. I hate Pep Boys but the cheapest one I saw were some futuras for like 30 bucks each, for that price they're going to be garbage on the 944 but worth a try. Hell, you never know maybe I'll like them.
Matt,
I'll take the card, I know I'll end up using it anyway. You have a PM now.

The Azenis' were the closest thing I've ever run to my V700's as far as sheer grip on a street tire. They really are a great tire for the money...only abhout 65 a piece, maybe less if your'e lucky.
I can't run a full fledged slick on the street, and I can't afford $150 per tire for a 15". I figure this will be a good balance. I never got to see how long that other set was going to last as I sold them with very low miles, but I guess we'll see!
I should have mentioned my (meager) budget! lol.
