Default Pricing on my 951?

Trying to price what I should sell my 951 for has been sort of difficult thus far. So I thought I would turn to the rennlist crowd to see if i'm at least going in the right direction.

And i'm also kicking around the option of converting it back to stock and selling all the parts that have accumulated on it over the years. These parts would include:

Vitesse Stage II Turbo, MAF, Piggy Back, Injectors, 3 bar FPR
996 TT Brakes
Leda Coil-Overs
Factory LSD
Boxster S wheels
Club Sport Looking Seats
GT Racing Splitter
Aluminum Torque Tube
Gauge Pods + boost / AF

Thoughts?

<vulture>
Id of course be willing to buy the turbo somehow someway, although I know that breaks the whole kit idea...

Seriously, Id start @ 15k and let it sit around there, if not part it. Heck street prices for those parts would be 5-6k probably...then sell the freshly painted car in stock form for what they normally go for. .02

Your own patience is the toughest thing to deal with, but in the end a right buyer will surface.

I voted for 16-17.

I'm going to guess the street value of all the parts is well north of 6k, most all of the parts have very low mileage on them.

The Turbo has less than 5k
Torque tube less than 5k
Suspension, fronts less than 15k, rear less than 5k
Transmission (well who knows on that, it was used)
Seats (hard to measure, but they still look good)
Wheels (well they look new)

If people have prices in mind for the parts, let me know, no low ***** here I don't have to move on this for quite some time, I would like things squared away before school starts, but thats just how I would like things, I can hang on to the car / parts for at least a year.

Above 17K

What you have is amazing and would be impossible to duplicate under 17K

I voted part it, but thats just if you can't sell at a price that you want. Don't give a great car away.

I sure would like the LSD, aluminum t-tube and brakes. :-)

Well my reasoning is that the stuff by itself is going to be worth alot more than if its sold installed on the car. I really dont know the market value of ledas, the lsd is what a grand, vitesse kit 2+, brakes 1-1.5+?, ledas 1.5? seats prob 800, wheels 900-1 grand, etc....I know you have some one-off and $$ stuff though, find a price and lock it in, put it in Panoroma, Excellence, pca website...

Updated 944s are always bad to sell. Invariably, the best option is to keep them and drive your investment. Why not sell it to a girlfriend or close relative with right to first refusal when they decide to sell?

Two years ago I was facing a similar scenario with my 133K S2 cab with new convertible top, new tires, updated belts, waterpump, airflow meter, yadda yadda yadda. Was asking $15K with very few takers

I ended up putting it on a boat and shipping it to Europe as a gift for my parents to enjoy. Now they drive it and maintain it and I don't feel like I took a bath by selling it too cheap.

I'm of the camp that you should list it and part it at the same time. Meaning, keep it listed the whole time, but as you pull parts off and return it to stock(ish) you drop the price. It works nicely in that you can sell the parts before you pull them, thus have motivation to pull them and dropping the price down all in one. You know that most people only price shop and look for the Cheapest 951 possible, not the best bang for the buck. The more expensive it gets, the less market you have to sell the vehicle to (with this particular car), so dropping the price opens up the vehicle to more and more buyers ~ which is the best thing and gets you towards the end goal.

Realistically, I don't think anyone is going to buy the car as it sits. The people who want the type of car you have usually want to do it themselves (the tinker syndrome ~ I have it pretty bad)... so supply Those people with the parts.

Anyway, just my Humble opinion.

Modifications = resale goes DOWN as a general rule.

You will certainly get more than a stock car (duh), but expect a return of maybe 50% on your aftermarket parts. IE, if you invested $10k, expect to get $5k for the parts.

The car is gorgeous but it's not always easy to find someone willing to spend that amount on someone else's 18 year old project car.

Best of luck!

i agree with Sean, expect half of what you spent - these cars are not investments. 18 year old car, no book value, requires constant maintenance, and used parts are used parts.

Here's an example:
the PO and I have put almost 35K into my n/a in the last 3.5 years. I bet i'd have a hard time getting 5k on a sale. That's why i'm never selling it.
Keep the car, Ian, or part the mods and sell it stock at the market rate.
