Default sunroof fitment question

long story short... my 1986 sunroof works properly but it seems to be warped in the front. the front center is flush w roof but the two front corners stick up a little.
i replaced the seal after confirming the vin w 944online and he sent me the 86-91 seal..that seal was way too loose so he replaced it w the early style seal. im wondering if i have an early style sunroof on late style 944.
with that said, if i push down the sunroof from the outside i can get it to sit flus in the four corners but im wondering if there is something i can do to make the sunroof seal tighter in its opening. like adjusting the front clips or the rear arms
thanks

I see you posted on both forums for a answer. Sunroof tolerances are tight and car flex if there is such a thing and yes the possibility you have a sunroof panel from a different year car is possible I doubt it. I have read some threads thats theres only one good source for accurate seals. Thats your first step. Next they are going to be fat and need time to fit in place if you will. I would not make any adjustments until last resort. Make sure everything is clean and apply some spray silicone or a silicone grease to the surface of the seal so it does not have friction when it seats in. I have tapped seals into the sunroof channel with a small rubber mallet to seat and improve fit. Simply put you aint going to buy new seals and expect it to drop right in. They need to form in place. Get it set and add some weight around the areas first then let it sit for a few days adjust if needed. A little rise at the leading edge and a tad more on the rear is acceptable in my opinion and I have done quite a few Mercedes from the simple to the pop up with 4 piece seals.

The old seal was there for at least 12 years. And the corners still stuck up before installing new seal. Ill try the silicone spray and some weights in the corners. I really dont care how it looks i just dont want any leaks.

well i tried the weights and i can get the sunroof to sit pretty much level w the roof if i push it down however whenever i close to door the interior pressure causes the roof to pop back up in the front.
is there some way of adjusting the front latches so it closes more tightly in the front?

How is it an issue if the sunroof pops up a bit when closing a door? Mine does that and I've never given it a second thought. As long as it doesn't leak or rattle around it should be fine.

I'm going to suggest a thorough reading of the adjustment portion of section 61 in the workshop manual.

Here's a link from Clark's Garage reference sunroof troubleshooting. His website has always been my go to.
