Removed the passenger seat and found most of this lurking underneath:

I had to take out my 16-gallon shop vac for this one... The are cleaned up pretty good after a couple/few passes of carpet shampoo. The dye is somewhat faded but I think she'll do.

Unfortunately, the driver's seat rails are completely rusted so I can't move it to take off the bolts. I think one rail bolt has already been pulled off the insert so there may be some welding in the near future (not by me).

Looks like fun. The passenger carpet came out great! Unusual timing belt....failure? I assume there may be bent valves? Great project car, a blank canvas

That was the balance shaft belt so the engine did not kiss itself.
BTW: I performed a Carfax before purchase and it appears that the car only has 100,844 miles on her. I'm not sure if the odometer works but I did gently press the trip button and it did zero out - looks promising...

Odd to think most super/hyper cars are (not all though), which I always wondered why mid engine is the way they go. I know it makes power transfer to the rear wheels way more efficient and was one of the big reasons the corvette switched.

Dear Pfarah: I had the same problem with mine. I soaked the crap out of them with PB blaster for several days, then put the jack behind the seat and jacked it forward enough to break it free. Use an extension or two to crank the jack. the aluminum crank handle will break fairly easily at the hook. I think I will rebuild mine with a steel handle..You might also have to put a block of wood in the jack equation to take up room and diversify the stress. I can help with the seat cushion and other parts if you need them. Don't give up hope yet..If you got the LSD transaxle, that is a major PLUS!

It also puts the main loads in the center of the car. Not to mention the vertical axis and the CG. Just sayin.

I think I'm going to have to drill and align a hole through the seat and rail to access the bolt heads. This seat will be completely destroyed; I don't want to damage the floor. Also, it looks like some of the body's electrical wiring has been buggered with over the years so schematic sheets and VOM are on the workbench! I did manage to flush the brake/clutch system yesterday so there's some progress being made.

Question to the group: Since this has the LSD transaxle, does the gear oil spec change or...
I realize there's a million threads on this but just looking for some candid advice. Thx!

I haven't been keeping detailed progress info (or pictures) of this project, but she came to life last night!!
Work completed thus far:
1. Major service including TB/BB/WP and all rollers
2. Replaced: Starter, fuel pump, all coolant hoses, thermo switch, radiator, spark plugs, rotor, dist. cap, accessory belts, a handful (or two) of light bulbs, rebuilt fuel injectors, hood struts, windshield wiper blades, fog light assemblies (spare), ignition lock assembly, complete turn signal lever assembly (and a bunch of small clips, brackets and other missing hardware).
3. Drained fuel tank (old gas was darker, but clear!!!).
4. Addressed a host of electrical issues: several connectors were replaced and every light socket cleaned.
5. Spare intake airbox/snorkel installed and that ridiculous "cold air" intake tossed.
6. Flushed brake, coolant and replaced oil/filter.
7. Gutted interior - Some rust found in the driver's side front seat cabin area. nothing severe...
8. Installed two used (on my shelf) window regulators.
9 Re-keyed all car locks to match new ignition.

Still lots to do but there is a light at the end of the tunnel and it's not a train coming at me!
