Predator, 51 is the max not the recommended. 36psi is perfectly fine for low aspect ratios. Take a closer look. You do not want to be running at 51 psi. Your tire wear will be abnormal and the tire will not perform correctly.
The tire manufacturer can tell you what the max pressure their tire can handle but since their tires go a on a variety of cars that all have different suspensions, weights and power levels, they do not know what's best for your usage.
36 psi all around is generally a good starting point for 944/951's.

For S2's Porsche recommends 36# up front and 44# in the rear. That's pretty much what I run. When I was running 17"er's I ran 32# up front and 38# in the back. It seemed a good compromise. I don't know what Porsche recommends for the larger setup.

I have the same tires, but I opted to "oversize" the width, (245/45/16 rear, 225/50/16 front on stock PD's) should I mess with the tire pressure at all? whats a good tire pressure for a long pirited run for a day?

I've been searching for two hours and cannot re-find the Falken website that provided the recommended tire pressure for all their tires. I just know that when I found it, the cold recommended pressure for their 40X17 series tires was 51 psi,and that was the recommended pressure, not max inflation pressure. I, too, thought that was high, but it was explained to me that with shorter sidewalls, you must run higher pressure to keep from rolling the tire off the rim. Under high, lateral loading with low (mid-30's) tire pressure, you can lose a tire! If your car came with 15 wheels, then the car manufacturers' pressure is correct, but when you change sizes, I'd go with the tire manufacturers recommendation. Afterall, Porsche never built 944's with 14X40 rubber, ......... did they?
