Default bumper job finito - thanks to xsboost90

I wanted to send out a public thank you to xsboost90 for all of your assistance in figuring this painting thing out... it's great to have people that offer help to us novices!

I could have done one more clear coat - but this was the "learning process job" and now even it looks better than the rest of the car, so I stopped at 2 clears.

Man, wet sanding and buffing are AMAZING. I had no idea a rubbing compound could do so much. For anyone interested, it really is easy - there are just a few details to figure out BEFORE you start!

Some pics of the finished bumper - the angles of the photos are me trying to show how smooth it is now with my crappalo 2.1Mp camera... not the greatest hour for pictures.

Notice that I left the tow hole (for obvious reasons):

It's difficult to see, but the project was primarily to add a curve between the clear lights and the bumper, where it used to be a straight cut-off of steel. More info here:

Factory Saudi market... goofy, I know. It's steel, but Euro design.

Looks like a primo job.

I'd like to see some pics of the front of the car as a whole, zoomed out a bit.

I'm going to have to do this soon as well... not sure how I feel about doing it yet. (Full repaint of my car..)

I believe that it's steel, but since I could lift it without too much effort, maybe it's aluminum. I should weigh it and see. I just assumed that it was steel.

Rich, I could email you some pics, but the lower valence is chipped so bad I intentionally didn't post it. That's my next piece - along with the nose panel. After that, it's just buffing - but those two are getting re-sprays.

Send me a PM if you want those pics.
