Hello,
Just purchased an 80 924. Besides contacting PCNA, any way to get the option codes for this one? When did the option label start? Thanks!!

There is someone on one of the forums here who can do this for you without having to buy a certificate, you’ll have to search or maybe someone else will chirp in as I don’t have time right now. Also spending $110 may not tell you anything you don’t already know if you don’t have any extra options, it will basically tell you the year, vin, model and color. What options do you suspect you have over the usual ones for your year?

Cool, I finally found the famous <vin to options thread>, it’s by 911PERVY on the 993 forum. Post your vin there and you’ll get all the options instead of paying for a scam certificate.

Also the front springs should have dabs of paint confirming 160 lb springs if you reference the manual.

That is a really well cared for ( appearance wise ) turbo. As you have already discovered, this is a fairly seldom seen car and it seems as tho fewer exist every passing day. I fear the 'Cash for Clunkers' deal under Obama's administration, took out a fair amount of these. Never to be seen again.
One other item to look for is the code on the transaxle confirming that option 220 for Limited Slip differential. Most M471 cars with the 'snail' transaxle 5 speed had them. This is an expensive piece to repair and a quite desirable trans, but Porsche Classic should be able to help with parts if repairs are ever needed. Turbo prices are also crazy in value and many cars seemed to have been parked when their turbos expired.
I nearly forgot the usual option of Sport Seats in the M471. They were usually fitted in these sport variants of the turbo 924 and may have survived. Does your car have them ?
Congratulations on finding a good example of these; they are a very cool car to own and I hope to add one to the group one day. They are lightyears away from the final watercooled variant of the '89 - 951 in technology and refinement, but very important in the lineage of development of inline four / transaxle design from Porsche

Keep in mind that options installed at Port ARE on the window sticker but NOT listed in the factory vehicle information sticker so the only way to know for sure what your car came with when sold new is to have the bill of sale or ORIGINAL window sticker. Example of Port installed options would include floor mats or car phones.

There were also dealer installed options which may not appear on either the original window sticker or the options decal. When I bought my 86 from the dealer I ordered an elevated hub which the factory sent separately to the dealer who swapped it out before delivery. It’s not printed anywhere however the dealer hand wrote code M018 on the sticker in the handbook. It also doesn’t appear on the Porsche certificate even though I specifically ordered it from the factory. All very confusing stuff.
