Default Mystery Connector 2 Pole AMP Style

Hello,

Working on a 1987 924s which suffered a light fire. I picked up a replacement DME engine harness that has me stumped somewhat. Everything fits and lines up as it should it and it has an oil level sender plug (indicating that it is a late 87 or 88 harness) but it also has this AMP style 2 pole plug right by the IAV? I was thinking it was a knock sensor plug but that would be for turbo only. Any ideas?

Good possibility. It was advertised as an 84 harness which it most certainly is not but beyond that, I have no info.

sometime in 87 or 88 *some* cars with the 2.5 8v (ive only ever seen it on a 924S engine) got some kind of sensor in the intake manifold back there.

Interesting......I believe the knock sensor is TURBO only, since this is a 924s, it uses the early harness that enters on the driver (left side). I believe all the turbo harnesses are the newer variety on the RIGHT side DME.

This seems to fit, my bet is that this is an 88 harness which serves me just fine since this seems to be the only difference.

Thanks for all the help as always!!!!

As others have replied the 1988 924S has a sensor in the intake manifold. The 1986 and 1987 924S does not have one. That is what the extra plug is for.
