Non M030 late offset 996/997 based big brake kits
Hi, curious as to why no one makes 996/997 Carrera non turbo big brake kits for the 87+ non M030 944/968's. Front and rear calipers are readily available second hand at fair prices. I see a lot of 996 turbo based kits, 993 kits even Cayenne based kit but not non turbo 996/997 kits. Is there something geometrically preventing this or are the 996/997 Carrera brakes considered not "big enough" to warrant kits being made with them?

The reason I ask is because I have a set of front and rear calipers from a 2004 Carrera S that I was going to use on another project. I'm also a machinist and can fabricate the needed adapters. Just don't want to bother if someone knows that it won't work out. I'm not looking for curb appeal with this. I see that the pads these calipers use have a significantly bigger swept area than the stock non M030 calipers on my 89S2 so this combined with 968 ducts should help brake feel on the occasional track day.

Depends on what model they are from. If you have brake fade on an S2 with limited power modifications, something else is probably wrong. Change pads first.
If it's a 997 Carrera S, the caliper pistons appear to be the same as M030; 36/44mm front and 28/30mm rear. Only difference is the 997 calipers are designed for a 330mm rotor front and rear, whereas M030 is 304mm front and 299mm rear.
Swept area is only going to be as good as the force exerted on it. A bigger surface area would have better cooling capacity though I guess.
You'd also change the bias, so you'd need to recalculate if you'd need a different master cylinder.
If you do it just be careful with aluminum adapter blocks. Some aluminum adapters are not stout enough and the threads pull out.
As for why the kit doesn't exist, I'm not sure the minor improvement is worth the effort. Also there is no demand.
There are other improvements to be made IMO, such as stronger A-arms, stronger hubs, stronger wheels, etc.
