Default i'm gonna buy it...

my friend's 944. he wants to sell it to me for $1700. needs some work, but runs great. he bought it because it looked like my old 88 na. i sold it several years ago to finish school. now i'm done and about to have a house, my wife said i could buy it after the house is done.

there's only a few problems:

1. its an automatic.

2. it has some body damage, it was bought from an insurance auction by the previous owner, who i know as well.

3. i have another friend who is selling an excellent condition 944s.

Get the automatic for your wife, buy the S for yourself.

the s is too perfect. maybe i'll get both and part out the 85.5. i'm looking for a car i can take apart and rebuild. i figured the price is worth it whether i get the s or not. i could always part it out.

i'm going to use it as a daily until i finish my gti, then i'll strip it down and make a racecar out of it. my goal is an extremely light weight car that is still street legal.

the s is really nice though. but i'll have to pay more for it. it has a new paint job and new head/belts/etc. and everything works including air conditioning. it'd be a shame to take it apart. although an s motor would be fun to play with in a light weight 44.

decisions, decisions......

You will regret getting an auto.

NZ951, why? I'm curious how the autos drive - I never hear anyone talk about them. They're like the crazy aunt in the attic.

yeah, i'm not too excited about the auto. i've already driven it and its not like my old 5 spd. it'll be ok when i'm using it as a daily (i drive in a lot of traffic), but it'll be gone when i start stripping the car down. i plan on taking it apart all the way to bare chassis.

here's my inspiration, i'd like to duplicate this with a 944:
