Preparing for a long drive
Any tips other than having a spare tire and a jack for taking my 87' 951 on a 2 hour drive? Car doesn't have any pending issues, but I'm still edgy about it. Definitely would not be taking it if the weather isn't good. I live in the northeast so it's just chilly, if you will.

Along with the aforementioned items I might add a gallon of 50/50 premix, a quart of oil, bottle of ATF and a can of brake fluid should help you limp home in the event of a leak. Might save you some time, inconvenience or a trip on a flatbed. YMMV

944s are great road trip cars - comfortable with lots of luggage room. I drive mine on long trips all the time (well, not more than 6 hours... because then I'm likely to fly).

some good driving music. 2 hours is nothing. these cars are great. as long as you have owned it a while you should know of any issues. if worried get AAA and get towed home for free

I drive my 84 several times a year from MA to NJ and took her on a 5K mile, 18 state journey just under three yrs ago without any real issue. You just have to keep up on the required maintenance.

Spend at least 10 years learning everything from basic auto mechanics to 944 specific diagnosis and repair, keep a basic tool kit and key spares (DME relay!) on board, and bring your cell phone.
