1) porschhhhe951 - I would consider going but I think I am going to have people here for P. Parade.

2) if you guys come up with the logos for the t-shirts I would be happy to have them made for you. Dependinge on qty. less than 8 dollars each no problem (if I can send them all to OH).

3) Even though I dont think I can go, I will donate one RL memebership to someone. When the time comes, one of the guys there can select someone and I will be happy to pay their membership!

Dan, just remember, before your beloved 944s were step children, there was the original step child.. the 1st car that porsche owners looked down upon.. the 912.

but ill still be happy to be there, give my support, in the shadows, like last year. ..all i ask is that no neighbors or visitors are allowed to lean against the door and make a big dent.

Maybe we could knock a bit off for the people who have come long distances - not a lot, but a noticable.
As an example only:
if everyone puts up $20, anyone travelling more than 1000miles should maybe only need to put up $10, and people that came more than 500 put up $15.
Or maybe there could be some peer sponsoring.
For example, since both my wife and I plan to attend, I would gladly put up twice the normal single attendee rate, and then maybe add $10 or whatever for someone who came from even further away - like I was sponsoring them, but without caring who it was.

Are these ideas nuts?
Jake, yes, sorry but they are nuts, simply because you can't beat a system where everyone pays what they can... or want to. It's a privlege for me to buy the main part, and as you can see a lot of folks chip in. Your offer is most generous and appreciated, but I have no intention of setting prices, sliding scale or not. When the jar passes by, toss in what you think your weekend is worth, more or less. Simple as that! Plus, if you drive from CT you SHOULD be freebies! Looking forward to meeting all the newbies!

Also, here's what I did for a logo for Fest #1, try using the outlined "944", it may work better on shirts...maybe not, I don't know. Try some variations on this for 04.

Here's a design that I did freehand and scanned it in. I suck with a computer and this isn't the best, but you guys have my permission to do what you'd like with it.

Dan,
Well, it's not the first time I've voiced nuts ideas!
You can expect a healthy donation from my wife and I, though I think we're really only spending one day - we'll have to see what happens.

That Dan fellow is one nice gent! And thanks Ron for donating the palacial estate for the cause.

From Atlanta, plan on 8.5 hours at slightly above legal speed to get there. I'd like to plan a caravan to leave early Saturday.

If its 8.5 hours from Atlanta, I would guess at 6 or so from here in charlotte.... maybe adding in a bit more time considering its the holiday weekend.....

I have a long list of things to get taken care of before then....
1) Put the head back on the car (waiting on the headers to get back from teh ceramic coating shop, hopefully this week).

2) Finish suspension: Fresh A-arms, tire rods, sway bar links, re-packed bearings (maybe next weekend this will be done)

3) New brakes (waiting on funding for the big reds)

4) Seats (no plan on this yet, but I have no seats in the car right now)

5) Wheels and tires (I only have R compounds right now, and 3 cup wheels with no tires)

Not a hard list to take care of, other than the $$$ value....

Perry would be so proud... "slightly above posted speed limit.. " right.

Drums ? . . beginning to sound a little like woodstock. .. Wade?

Yeah Chris, since it is officially going to be this close to us I have pondered more "instrumentation", but I think that may take away from the campfire-type spirit. I like the implicit simplicity thing, and I think Dan mentioned a DJ anyway.

I'm disappointed in you, Chris. Missing an opportunity like "Wadestock" isn't like you.

By the way, PM me with your work hours, I need to give you a call.

I have an idea, and since i have never been to 944 fest but am really excited i thought i would share.... There are a couple of more waterboys i know who live in my area, if we could somehow make a fyler, actually i could make it if someone would just email me all the info about the fest, the maybe i could convinse more 944 lovers to attend. This i'm sure would prove to be a very amazing event the more people we can get to join in, but i may be wrong, I would even consider telling a few guys from the local pca, and autocross, who really love their 944's, but just tell me what you think... and i have plans, i am planning on having my car painted, by myself, before the fest, so then i can show off a brand new paint job!, cant wait to meet all of you guys this sounds amazing, would advertising to more people be a good idea or not tell me what you all think...

I can see giving the flyers or whatever directly to the people maybe...but I don't think we should "post" flyers in the public. Just so it's mainly 944 people coming and not a bunch of random car show seekers.

I've posted flyers before, but just in places where 944s are known to frequent, such as a good Porsche repair shop. I also printed up some business cards to stick on 944 windshields. Truthfully, I didn't get much response (if any) from the advertising and just said "screw it". The hard core guys are here and in PCA, those I'll catch with an ad in the region newsletter. I pondered an ad in Excellence, or even the Panorama.. but the best bet is word of mouth. If every 944 owner tells one more owner, eventually every 944 will be there! Then I started thinking.. "How many do I really want to show?" 30 cars seemed like a great, managable crowd. Lets shoot for 50 this year. Any guesses what we get? The Rennlist cards John and Jen are sending out would work great.. just add a blurb about "Come to our 944Fest!"
Seriously guys.. word of mouth, or send them here! If they know about Rennlist, they'll know about the fest. If they don't know about Rennlist, educate them!
