Pls, Don't laugh.. I want to put a toddler car seat in the back of my 944 but the rear seats are very unusually shaped and the car seat that I have now does not really fit well. Does anyone here have a child car seat installed properly on their 944? If so, what brand is the seat?

Wal Mart had a seat that fit perfect back there but you need the shoulder harness. I am still searching for one that will work with just the lapbelt.
This is the one that walmart sells.
Cosco 02-480-WAL you can buy at Wal-mart, it costs aprox $69.00 and
comes with a cup/bottle holder, the color is a light/dark tan mix.
Another guy here bought a differnt seat at walmart and said that it fits good and uses the hooks under the rear carpet for the teather.
If you upgrade and put the shoulder harness in the back there is lots of seats on the market now that will work. Britax child seats look like mini sparcos and they are the same company that makes the porsche brand seats so they fit well in the back seat but you have to have the shoulder harness.

I bough a used one (old style, made in Japan). Used the existing seat belt, but buckled it to the other side, i.e. left seat belt and right buckle. Then I used two luggage straps (non-stretching) to wrap the top of the seat to the back rest of the rear seat in the car (wrapped the straps around the back rest of the rear seat).
The child seat doesn't move at all, and in a way this works better that child seat attachments in many cars.
You can probably do the same with any child seat that is small enough, after removing the child-seat base.

Since I dont have air bags, is it ok (and ok by law), to out the child seat at the front seats instead of the back? My son is a little over 2 yrs old.

I never sit them in the front. I got the baby seat from Porsche... fits nicely back there. But you are correct, the back seats in the 944 are smaller than those in the 911.

I have a Century STE1500 seat that does fit back there. Problem is my shoulder belts dont really hold the seat tight - could be the way I tried installing it though. Not sure if they still sell it...I got it last year.
You also need to attatch the top teather to something solid in the rear hatch area to keep the seat from falling forward. There's a threaded hole under the rear hatch carpet, right behind the rear seats...someone mentioned you can buy a threaded eye hook and screw it in there. That would make a solid teather point.
Good luck!

I have done some research as I am expecting my first child. Here are a couple that have been known to work on Porsches (front facing child seats):

Information about the Porsche-marketed child seat. They come up on Ebay once in a while:

Guys....don't forget it's your kids your dealing with....don't just pick anything as a teather point!!!!
Also....Britax = outstanding seats! (well...at least my 2 yr old likes them and they are very well built)
I don't bother...wife says "not until he's legal to sit infront w/o a car-seat" !
Good luck and make sure it's installed correctly when you find the one you want!
