914 in the bone yard
Hi,
The other day I found a 914 in the parts yard. It had no engine but further down the row I found a loose flat-4 so I assume that was the motor that came out of it.
The body was many, many colors but looked straight overall.
The car did have a transmission in it, with newer looking (yellow!) CV boots.
Anybody have an interest in parts off this thing? Send me a list and I can go check the car for what you need. I don't know much of anything about 914s so you'll have to be pretty specific. The yard has pretty good prices for most parts.

To have a transmission "in it," it would have to be attached to an engine. Or did you mean that a trans was in the trunk, or...?
Rust is the big, big deal with 914s, and like racing916 wrote, if you could stop and check the VIN, that would be great!
How many lug nuts/bolts are on the wheels?

the trans was still under the car attached to the rear wheels. however the way it was pointed, the engine would have been out back like a 911 and i thought 914s had a boxster-type arrangement with engine in front of trans.
the floor of the trunk was cut out, i assume this was to pull the motor

Or they didn't cut it out and it just rusted out! I have seen that before too. The funny thing is the guy selling the car said it was a rust free car, yet I could see the whole tranny. Matt Romanowski remembers this car!

RUN FORREST RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's rather hard to leave the tranny and remove the engine as someone has already pointed out...

I just read the "gone" list in your signature. Mine is extensive as well, but the one car on it that I truly miss is my 1970 "6". 2.6 liter, M,S,X gears, S calipers, Bilsteins, 180 lb springs, big front sway bar, front cooler, never rusty, perfect paint/interior...damn, I miss that car! I also owned my avatar car, a '73 2.0, for a few years.

Don't we all a few cars we wish we hadn't sold!! My son was trying to find our '95 993 coupe as he wanted to buy it back- actually found it- in England on it's way to Switzerland, being turned into a track toy after a crash by the previous owner at Mosport!! Our 914-6 was a real one and had a massaged 2 liter that really screamed- yes, that car was a blast to drive. Once this economy turns around, I'd love to find a slightly used 997 GT3 with centerlocks and keep that till I can't drive anymore...

I sold my '73 2.0 that I bought when I was 16 a few years ago to buy a track car that didn't work out. I was always planning owning that '73 until I died and I sold it within a week to buy a track car. Oops!
