I found an original 914-6 under a tree this weekend!
It's all there, but was told it wasn't running when parked.
What are the most valuable parts on this car? The car's not worth restoring, but I'm thinking of purchasing to spread the parts around.
It has the deep 14" fuchs wheels, & what appears to be the original motor, but couldn't find the stampings on the case..has a large access hole cut behind the driver's seat, & could get in there to check, but didn't see the stampings.
VIN starts with 914...so that's correct, & the shroud-bracket still has the original 914-6 plate on it...
The case appears "blue" when cleaned up...isn't that a blank-case (aluminum) from Porsche??
Comments?

Thanks Geoff, I was sure of 1,2,3, but not 4 or 5. Wonder what I need to retain in order to do a nice 914-6 conversion on a '73 car? I was gonna buy one anyway.

Are the 14" wheels not worth anything?

Boy, looking at those pictures it may not be worth restoring but would be an interesting project. You'd never get your $$ of it restoring it even those it's a original 6. 70 or 71? 14" wheels aren't worth that much- I've got a couple sets from my 6, want them cheap??
My advice- buy it for parts and get a good rust free body to build off of...
The engine number is visible from the top through a small hole if it's an original 6 engine. Wouldn't need to look thru the firewall.

I think you should do some more investigation into the car to see if it's worth restoring.
There aren't many around anymore.
How's the body and other parts of the car?
Lucky find!!

Also, 914-6's had the 5-lug setup. Front end is 911, but the rear end has special stub axles that mate the 5-lug hub to the 914 CV's/axles. Those are rarer and expensive to find the originals. Aftermarket 914-6 stub axle's go for about 300 bucks. If the heat exchangers are in good shape..those are worth a small fortune also. I've seen average sets with some rust go for 1000 bucks on ebay. Also, the rear valence, if on, has it's exhaust outlet in a different spot then the corresponding 4 valence (assuming it has the full coverage one on). Concours people will pay a fortune for an original one in good shape.

As stated above...get it home pronto...figure the rest out later. If you are getting a good "package" deal the piece parts will always be worth alot. But, factory 6's are rare (not many made over a two year period) and can command some pretty big bucks.
