Hi Martin and the rest of u. New '72 914 owner in BC Canada. What does it take to "refinish" a targa top? I've tried various products-back to black, etc. even shoe polish! Nothing seems to last.Any info/suggestions much appreciated.Richard

Ship it to Martin. I don't know what he charges for it but I have seen his work on his 2 liter. It is very nice.

Martin is such a 914 guy I think if he could figure out where it is he would move into the 914 area code and get a phone number that started and ended in 914...

wow martin so sorry to hear that news.

man i pray ya have a great new year ahead. i know what lay-offs are about (been there). they hurt.

but things will turn. have faith. wish i could give ya a job. damn. i don't know why but, i just keep thinkin' you're the kind of talent jay leno would want working for him, maintaining his cars (i know he has @ least one fulltime mech. who does just that). anyone here know jay?

fwiw: your workmanship is great & you are very skilled @ what ya do. imo you will be an asset to anyone who hires you. you have talent & no one can take that from ya.

glad you're going to keep the 914. ever thought about restoring porsche cars?

have a merry christmas (best ya can)... & know some listers are thinkin' of ya.

Martin, Sorry I have been so busy lately... I have been training staff all over Northern California so not much spare time... Have you checked with Kim Nelson? Perhaps he has some new strings he can pull since last you discussed it. It would be a shame to lose you from the Northern California area, especially when Sacramento is so much more affordable. How about Frank Lentini?

Martin, how come you don't have one of your GT gas cap installed in the car?

Martin,
So this is where U hang out... =-)

That must have been a big relief after considering doing a geographical relocation.. Yikes.

I still look forward to meeting you, as you were one of the first people I reached out to when I was in the market for my first 914.

Keep up the good work.

Well Martin, its good to see you are over here. I remember you drooling over the white 6 at WCC, haha glad you got it.
I am also glad the 914club went to the garage and sandbox forums as there was too much OT (*****) stuff. Its bad enough to wade thru the daily repeat posts but that OT stuff was getting out of hand.

Glad you have 3 people you trust to get info about 914's! I lost my local guy a couple of years ago so I have to call a couple of guys I now know too but not Germany! Maybe I'll call you next time!

Djet is so easy is funny that people make such a big deal over it and for me its easy to diagnose even over the interent. I learned the hard way of course, trial and error....not all my info is shared. I have been stocking up on the key parts for years so I got that covered....

There is only one person I trust when it comes to my 914. Tag Martin. Your it. Glad to hear that your situation worked out. These things have a habit of twisting around to something better...
On top of everything else I now have a flooded basement, so you don't have to worry about that at least!
Anyone need a disc copy of the 914 factory manual in pdf?

Default Hookin' Up . . . .

Martin,

I obviously found your progress thread and it's inspiring, to say the least. It makes me think of that old dry cleaning company, only now applied to the GT clone: Martinizing the 914 GT! Keep up the good, no, excellent work.

I'm holding the replica fuel gauge for you.

Thanks,

Wayne Cowie (type47fan)
