This is my car. It is a 1981 that I have owned for the last 12 years. I am the second owner. I worked with Speedware over the last 10 years to tune the chassis, suspension and brakes. There are 55K miles on the chassis and around 3K miles on a complete rebuild by Chris Powell. Chris converted it to Motec, keeping the stock manifold using PWR fuel rails and injector blocks.
My objective has been to modernize the major systems, but keep a largely original look and feel. It is a light and powerful Porsche car.

That is an amazing 930, I think I have looked at the pics of it about a hundred times. I even used one on here:-) You guys captured the poster look of the 993TT kills bugs fast. I still have that poster image burned in my head from highschool. I can only image how fast it is. I have only ridden in a couple 930s, I need to drive one once, maybe if im lucky my own one day soon. Can I ask you what are the specs on your wheels and suspension? I noticed a lot of guys are going to Elephant Racing, Rebel Racing for coils and all their suspension upgrades. Anyway thank you for your time and once again gorgeous 930.

Thank you for the kind words. For the suspension I have kept it on torsion bars (not super stiff - 28mm and 22MM), and have added plastic bushings, Bilstein RSR shocks, FVD front strut brace, and TRG sway bars. The rear shock mounts have been seam welded and gusseted. Whether torsion bars are superior or inferior to coil-overs is not relevant for what I want in the car. The torsion bar system is simple, elegant, and works perfectly well.

I just made it my wallpaper... great shots, and very nice car. What wheels are those in black? What size are you running?

That's just BEAUTIFUL!

Btw, I have noticed some folks have swapped out the original squarish side view mirrors in favor of the 964/993 looking mirrors. Do these just fit over the mounting point of the originals or does it require some body work to make it fit perfectly?

The 993 aero mirrors fit very easily with no adjustments. The stock square mirrors are quite heavy too.

Who did you have build your roll cage? It looks to be really good work? Is that welded directly to the tub and did it stiffen your chassis significantly? Im curious to know if there was still a lot of stiffening added even though your cage isnt a full one.

Speedware did the roll bar. It is welded to the tub at four points. They did a really nice job, removing the rear seats and then reinstalling the interior trim and panels around the roll bar, so as to look appropriate for the car. The roll bar does add some stiffness to the chassis, but nothing like a six point cage.
