911 Turbo Paint Color
Exotic Classics in Long Island have a 911 Turbo for sale with "Whitegold" paint - looks stunning in the pictures but wondering if this is a genuine Porsche color as have never seen it before...http://www.exoticclassics.com/collectibles/

White Gold Metallic...offered only in 1985 and '86.
I like it for obvious reasons!
That's a nice looking Turbo...full leather Champagne interior, sport seats, and later 930S-style steering wheel. My car is VIN #0439 so they were made within days of each other. 28K miles isn't much...how often does it get driven and how long has it been standing?
Be aware that this is a Grey Market European car. So was mine, so I'm not saying it's a bad bet...do your homework but I'm sure you know that.
Good luck!

Thanks for the info and sharing your great looking cab!
This will actually be my first turbo - have a 997 C4s cab at the moment and have had 3.2 turbo body and and SC but no turbo.
The metric speedo is a giveaway for the fact that this was a private import but that said what should I look out for? Did the cars imported by Porsche have anything different in the way of equipment/specs etc?
Ask on this is $49500 - fair? or reflective of its "grey market" status?

I know the Turbo was de-tuned for North American gasoline (282 vs 300 hp, I believe). In the case of my car, which is a NA 3.2 engine with a Turbo body, the HP was only 200 vs 231 for Europe.
I'll let the true Turbo guys answer your questions. Grey market cars needed DOT and EPA approval to clear customs. That was a long time ago....I'm sure you don't need to worry about any of that.
I like the rear fog lights that came on the European cars. They're great conversation pieces! That car sure photographs well. It's a very unusual color combination.

Regarding the car in question, I've looked over other listings from this dealership and they tend to run on the very high side pricing-wise. They take really nice pictures though. At almost $50k, that is top dollar (or beyond). That said, its real easy to dump 10-15k into one of these cars to "make it right" so if this one truly needs nothing, and you can get a little off of the asking price, it might be ok.
One nit I will mention is the photo of the engine compartment. I don't see any of the stickers that should be there from the factory under the decklid...they say original paint, but the missing stickers suggests otherwise.

accepted, except that Truspeed have sold the 86 930 they had listed at 59900 - I know it had half the miles - 13000 but still...
anyway I will go see the car this week and get a sense of what it may go for.
