Default Fabspeed's New 1987 Factory Slantnose

Ready for a flashback to 1987 I thought I would share with you guys the new member of the Fabspeed Family. A couple weeks ago we aquired a 1987 bone stock USA factory slantnose 930T with the help of Stephen Kasper @ Imagine Auto. We will be doing a full build-up on this car, and will keep you guys informed on the progress of our build.
Car on the lift first day we got it!

Here is a great shot of the 930S front spoiler that was painted and installed hours before our Charity Car show!

Here is a list of mods that we have completed on the car so far
Fabspeed Motorsport Zork Tube (just like 934 IMSA Style)
930S Steering wheel
934 Boost Gauge
930S Front Spoiler
Waiting for HRE 590 18" wheels to be built and shipped thanks to Ben@Wheels Boutique

We are about to remove the entire stock exhaust system to fit our new Fabspeed 930 turbo headers which have been under development the past couple months. I will have pictures of the new headers that we will be offering with or without heat.

Stay Tuned.... as I will be posting up dyno graphs before and after IMSA Zork Tube Install along with more pics of the car as we progress.

Are there future plans of a motor rebuild/mods to bump up the output? What size rear wheels (width) will be going in?

ok when you get to the body work you need to ditch the expanded metal grille in the front. the factory euro slant noses had a black plastic grille made from a cut down 911 rear deck grille. I made mine the same way it looks just like the factory ones. The color is off in the pic i lightened it so you could see the detail of the grille.

Your new car looks great.

My factory red/tan 87 slantnose has the same factory BBS wheels.

I'm looking for a stock front valence with fogs, rubber lip if your selling yours or maybe someone has one for sale.

Thanx for all the kind words. Yesterday I threw the car on the dyno to get some stock baseline numbers. The stock car put down 261hp and 289ft/lb to the rear wheels which is very respectable for a 20 year old car....but man this thing needs more power
I unstrapped the car from the dyno and put it back on the lift to remove the stock muffler and cat. Once we removed the stock system we installed the Fabspeed Zork tube. We also replaced the muffler off the wastegate with a straight pipe. Now that we had everything installed it was time to strap the car back on the dyno for some more runs. After a couple runs on the dyno I could feel a tremendous difference of how much harder and faster the turbo spooled up. I managed to put down 289hp and 317ft/lb. I attached the dyno graph comparing the the stock and performance run.

Beautiful car Jeremy, thanks for sharing this will def. be interesting.

Now I forget, factory slants came with the 7006 turbo (or something like that) vs. the standard 3ldz? IIRC the US slants came with 300hp vs. 282... but... do I recall correctly???

Reason I ask is I recently baseline'd my '87 (non slant), stock except EBC set to 0.8bar and gutted cat. I put down 245whp / 276wtq on a Mustang dyno. Yours put down a fair amount more even with cat - is the difference being the slant's higher output (if I am recalling that data correctly)... or if I'm not recalling correctly (often), difference in dyno's maybe?

Just curious more than anything.

Seeing your gains via the exhaust and WG dump alone are titalating! That's not insignificant. Mine goes on this week or early next! Scwhing!

Keep up the good work on that beaut.

Paul,
The '87-'89 Factory Slants had the same engine as the standard 930's of that model year.......unless they went through the Special Wishes Program for more power. The '81-'86 Special Wishes Program cars were modded with the K-27 7006 you mentioned plus SC cam profiles ans depending on the year, a 965 type IC.

If you do the numbers crunch on Jeremy's dyno runs, you find they are very close to what the factory advertised at the time. 261RWHP/.85 = 307 BHP. Not bad for an antique!

Our Factory USA Slant Nose has a 3LDZ Turbo and is 282hp at the crank from the factory. The Mustang dyno has more parasitic loss than a Dyno Jet and is why your numbers are lower. Our car is actually putting down more than the factory claim.
