Default If Mid Engine where a 911 Turbo "Option"

Gathering opinions. I posted this question of a mid engine "option" for the the 911 in the 996 forum and now I'm looking for opinions from the GT2/GT3/Turbo crowd.

It's an option now- it's called "Cayman".

You might get better results in the 996/997 Turbo forum. Nothing here, but us dinosaurs...

To answer your question, I would take a mid-engined platform over a rear engined one if power options were equal. It's a superior handling platform.

As I have a '84 carrera and a '81 turbo I would opt that the carrera is fine and practical being rear engined but my turbo would have the engine in place of the rear seats, mid engined.
However you could argue that the carrera is more of a car for corners and the turbo is more for blasting on the straights due to turbo lag.
Seems it is a tough decision but it would be great to have been allowed an option.
The Boxster/Cayman do not have the looks of the 911 for me, I love the 911 coupes rear side windows. I was dissapointed when I saw the Caymans, but realise that it is the accountants...

This is a fuzzy shot of a mid-engine car built by Fabcar a few years back. I saw it at The Racers Group.
Today, I would take a Cayman and stuff a nice 3.8 / 400 h.p. in there.

The mid-engined Fabcar is a great car! It's currently owned by Sol Snyderman, the owner of Perfect Power, Inc., in Libertyville, IL. If you are interested in a fabulous track car, I understand that it's currently for sale.

Attached are a couple of recent shots of the mid-engined Fabcar. If I can find others I'll post them as well.
