54!!!! Damn, I'm old compared to you youngsters. Got my first 911 17 years ago, and the 930 just 3 years ago. I had reached a point where money was just money, and I already had all the necessary "man" things I needed (beautiful wife that can't be replaced with any amount of money, a house, cars, bikes, vacation and investment properties....all paid for....so what the heck, I went for the car of my dreams. I'm too old to be a dot.commer, too wise to take investment risks at this point, and have just worked hard and smart over the years.
But remember, owning a Porsche is not about prestige or who can afford what. It's about enjoyment... period.

I've had my 930 for over 22 years. Like many of you I still love the looks of it. I've had it down over the summer doing some work on it. So finally last week I get ready to fire it up last week and the battery is beyond dead. I pop the hood to charge the battery. NO I don't pop the hood. It won't pop. Crap. After 3 months of being down I'm antsy as heck to drive the car. I live in Texas with no AC so I don't really miss the summer drives. I do searches here and at Pelican. I try everything. No pop. I'm not drilling any holes so I buy one of those cigarette lighter chargers. They work. And now I'm working the next 7 days 12 hours a day. It isn't worth it to get it off the lift. So next Friday I'll fire the beast back up.
I'll be retired in slightly more than a year so maybe I'll put the the AC back in and update it so I can coax my wife into going for rides again.

22 now, I've owned mine since I was 16. Nothing like trying to convince my parents that 19k was a great deal on a 26 year old car at the time...well, my dad was all in, mom wasn't so keen on it though.
bought my 2nd porsche a year later, an 84 944 in alpine white. I drove it till it blew up. paid 2k for that little guy and had some great times in it. I'll keep a car about a year and trade for somthing different, but my 930 will always stay.

29 now owned my first pcar at 25 it was a 911sc couldnt afford the 930. Saved some $ and sold the sc for the amount I needed ever since I can remember I would promise myself I would own a 930 and bought my first euro 930 at 27. At 28 I bought my next project 77 911 heavily modified. Im am just glad to have the chance to live my life dream of driving and owning such a great piece of history. Not to mention being able to just fly past my friends on the highway when they ask what an old car like that can do.lol. Im sure you fellow rennlisters can relate.

Damn...where in the hell are you youngsters getting all this money? I've had to wait YEARS...I'm probably the oldest guy in this particular discussion thread....before I could afford to buy one. I comend you for your choice of vehicle and ability to save up the money to get one of these great looking cars.
