Bought my 87 930 after retiring from the USAF in 2006 at 44

My first post but, went through all 177 pages looking for and absorbing tech tips

Question, my car has excessive white smoke during cold starts in the winter, normal?

Thanks!

White smoke no problem. Warm up regulator supplying more fuel. A brief blue puff is oil going past value guides. No big deal. Don't run car hard until up to temperature.

70 years and counting.....saw my first 930 in the fall of 1982...trailing a group of 356s on highway 221 coming down the mountain fron linville falls nc. looked like a big shark on the hunt behind the 356s. i do not believe that i have ever been so taken by a motorcar! zip and they were gone! finally bought mine in 1992...78 930. as a note, my daily driver is a 585chp 71 rs look-a-like! ...update: currently installing 700 chp modified LS7 in the 930..

Welcome first-poster! Pay your dues...where's the picts?

+1 on the white smoke. Don't sweat it; richer mixture as well as some condensation burning off from within the exhaust. What you don't want is a haze of blue smoke that lingers like a London fog.

Thanks for the answers on the white smoke! That's what I thought, just wanted to be sure. Pic coming soon!

Bimmer guy here, too. I'm usually on Mfest and M5board....

Porsche has always been my dream car, though. My father had a 911 T when I was a kid and then got the '79 930 whn I was in jr high...been waiting to drive it ever since. It finally got passed down to me at 36!!!

I've had a couple cars faster, but something about driving the 930 is special. It's the 1 car I will never sell.....
