Default Intercoolers for Big HP EFI Engines

What are you guys running out there, I really don't want to spend 3-4k on an I/C from billet design or Protomotive at the same time I don't want to sacrifice quality. Lets open up the discussion and lets see some pictures as well, the budget on my build is out of control and I am lost in the sea of information, I am shooting for 550 at the wheels and I need an I/C to support that.
Anybody ever hear of a company called blownsix, they sell copies of the 962 intercoolers for 1600, I have pics not sure how to post them though.

After a little research you will get good ideas of the appearances, and there are threads that talk techincal information that really makes sense to analyse.

I was thinking best way is to create a table with crital variables, IC features and corresponding benefits of the features ability to control the critical variables, as well as overall price. I too believe it is like anything else it is about cost benifit not just cost, and benefit being te key word there.

But this is not easy to do in one hour, so I am hoping I can find a matrix someone else has already prepared.

After I while you get a good understanding but to sqweeze greatest effeciency it has to be to the tee, and it is very important workmanship has to be there. What I was hoping was to get similar results as some guys who go before us, and long term resliability to the components given proper brackets and Si and AL plumbing.

Are you planning on doing the welding your self (or with a good friend) or having part/all of it done by vendor(s)?

I'm heading to Sebring today for a PBOC DE and no more time to do research on the computer.

Good luck.

Regards,

Just call Gerhard at Bell Intercoolers.

He sold me my core, and basically built DonE's cooler.

Very inexpensive for what you get.

Then Gerhard has what you need. Just call him and tell him you want the unit that Don Enderlein purchased.

The only thing you'll need is a few sections of silicon hose.

Once again, is the C2 turbo intercooler not good enough to support my horsepower goal?

550whp...I am sceptic that a C2 IC can support even 500 at the crank!

I recall reading the C2T as well as the Andial Racing unit and the Kokeln are all only good up to 500hp

I'd go the Bell intercooler route. They can probably build a full bay IC for about $1200.

I built my own with a Bell core but they could build something similar.

Greg:

I don't remember. I'd have to go outside and measure. But 125shifter's cooler is what I was referring to.
Just call Gerhard and tell him to build that unit again.

I used a Turbonetics High Flow Core $800.00. The Fab work was a friend $300.00.
