Default Tire fit in the front of a 930

Will a 245/45/17 fit in the front without a problem? Or should I go to a 235/45/17? How about a 285/45/17 in the rear vs. a 275/45/17? Thank you! and Merry Christmas!

I meant 275/40 or 285/40 in the rear.

Derick,

WIth the 17" wheels, you need to be careful of the overall tire diameter differences between front and rear. Also, if you have a rear tire larger than about 25.6" diameter and your car has been slightly lowered, you run the risk of hitting the rear quarter panel with even the stiffest torsion bar setup.

With that said, you can fit a 9.5" rim in the front and a 11.5" rim in the rear. I'd encourage you to look at 18" wheels as the tire selection and sizing is better than in 17"

With that said, the 245/45/17 will fit, however, it may rub the inner wheel well near full lock. The 275/40 will be in the range of 25.7" diameter which in my opinion is too tall for the car. I think you want to be in the 25.1-25.3" diameter range for the best fitment. Suggestions might be 235/40/18 and 315/30/18.

I have 235 17's mounted on 9" wheels front and 275 17 rears on 10" FIKSE FM10 wheels. I dont remember the profile series for the front but the rears are 40. My left front does very lightly touch the inside wheel well on a full lock left turn and nothing on the right. Nother rubbing issues.

Thank you both.

Geoffrey, I already have the 17 inch wheels. Looking at the overall size, a 235/45/17 is 25.3 inches overall and a 275/40/17 is 25.7 inches overall. Is that close enough in overall diameter to work OK?

Thanks again.

yes, that will look good on the car. If you had used a 235/40/17, then it would not look so good. Just be cautious of the rear tires hitting the quarter panels under heavy cornering.

I'm running 245/40/17 on 9" with just a little rubbing at full lock. I did have to trim my fender lips 1/4 but that's mainly because I'm so low in the front. Camber settings can make a difference too. I'm really liking these BFG g-force KD TAs, I've gotten 20K out of them.

I am using 235 45 ZR 17 in front and 285 45 17 for rears - Goodyear F1 D3'2 with excellent grip and great ride. No problems on rubbing either.

Just change my tires. The tire guy told me that the recommended size by Porsche for 17" rims are 205 50 17" in the fronts and 255 40 17". He also recommended me the Bridgestone Potenza SO-2A. These are OEM porsche tires, specially design for porsches. Check out www.tirerack.com. Bridegestone only makes 205s and 255s for 17" tires.

Thanks for the replies. I'm trying to decide between a set with 235/45/17 front and 275/40/17 rear which have an overall height of 25.3" and 25.7" or a set of 245/45/17 front and 285/40/17 rear which are 25.7" front and 26.1" in the rear. Stock suspension, may lower it a little...

I'm worried about the 245f and 285r fitment, but with 485 rwhp, I need all the tire I can get...

Is it difficult to roll the fender lip?

I am running 235s up front and 315s in the rear on my 9/11 x 17" Fiskes. Car is slightly lowered and I have had no issues with fitment other than my driver side front rubbing on the window washer reservoir under load at the track. I know of others who have run this same setup without any problems as well.

Mine touches there too. Didint at first, not sure why it does now. I think we have the identical wheel and size.

In a fit of desperation at the track I actually pulled the tank out. Haven't gotten around to refitting it. Need to either try and modify it or go with another option. not sure as of yet.
