Default '89 Carrera/ '73 RSR tribute on eBay

Looks to be an interesting build.

eBay listing:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1989-Porsche...m=132093483438

I have no connection to, or interest in, this car.

It amazes me how much energy and money guys can pour into paint and body while completely ignoring the engine.

Agreed.....most are at end of wallets and time by time bodywork/paint complete and most the flippers don't want to put out the cash flow needed.

Couldn't agree more - I built mine to be fast first and then didn't have enough left $$ over to make it super pretty but I would approach the built exactly the same all over again. Who wants a car that is all show and no go-

I'm building it fast then worry about looks cuz I rather be quick and ugly then pretty and slow.

There is a joke about West Virginia woman in there somewhere.

Like the RWB cars. I could smoke almost all of them with my lowly cab.

Aesthetics matter, and stock motors have a broad appeal. If you want to go fast for the money, an air-cooled 911 isn't the answer.

That's why we're calling this car a Tribute and not a Clone.

A clone has to be a perfect reproduction of the original. That's the definition of cloning.

A tribute car can be anything you want it to be. This car was built to honor the RSR - not to duplicate it. No horsepower? Not a problem.

I could call my MacBook Pro here a tribute to the 911 RSR. I'm typing on it to honor the Porsche 911 RSR

The last time that car was listed on eBay was a month or two ago. IIRC they were looking for $6o or $69k US, not sure which. Its an interesting proposition at the right price. You could swap a new mill in there and have the bones for a quick and fun car. At $60k ummm I don't think so. I am sitting on a 63k mile 88 coupe, wondering what direction to take it. The thought was the sell it and start with this black car. Maybe.

would be a nice start for somebody looking to use a G50 car for a RSR build....

Bodywork is everything. Who knows what is under the skin when it comes time to repaint.
