Momo Mod 7 Steering Wheel
Ladies and Gentlemen: Any issues with installing a Momo Mod 7 steering wheel with hub adapter on a '87 911 with the elevated hub factory option? i.e., will the Momo adapter be compatible with the elevated hub? Thanks

Anyone got pictures of the 07 in a gmodel? I'm back and forth between the 07 and Prototipo...

That choice really comes down to whether or not you prefer or need a wheel that has dish. The prototipo is basically flat so if you want it to feel the same as the mod 7 you need to add a bunch of spacers, or your knuckles will be very close to the dash.

I've been debating this myself. The stock wheel is a bit further away than I like, so the Mod 07 should address that. But I'm also thinking that I would like silver spokes to brighten up the interior, and the Mod 07 only comes in black. Maybe match silver spokes with silver aluminum door handles and pedals.
So I my other option is a silver Prototipo, with the JWest eccentric adapter to get it closer and offset upwards for better gauge visibility.

Hmm.. I like it, but at the same time I feel that the dish makes it look somewhat driftcar like. I have an overall classic look on my car, but then again I want to do som mild reversable Hot Rodding. I would retrim it to match my dark blue leather and ditch the yellow stripe.
Then again, the Prototipo looks more classic, but I want the wheel closer to me then what the oem wheel is so... (Back an forth, back and forth..)

This is a topic I have been very curious about. Does anyone have any pictures(Prototipo), angled to see the clearance between the top of the wheel and the dash?? How much closer is the Prototipo to the dash than the stock wheel?
I really like the dish of the Mod 7, but I dislike the stripe for the look I am going for.

I actually posted the wrong steering wheel photo thread. This one has more photos than the Rennlist thread: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...ng-wheels.html

so now I'm going crazy as usual with Porsche decisions. I saw a Mod 7 in and '86 911, it looked great, but I didn't pay a lot of attention to the "dish"... So, I've done some more "research" The Prototipo is flat, like noted above. The Mod 7 has a 70mm dish and from the new thread Mark posted some of the side view pictures make it look extreme. The Monte Carlo is flat, like the Prototipo potentially a knuckle dragger. Another option is the Mod 69 (great name) with a 39mm dish, but appears to be only available in suede. I guess the 39mm dish won't scrape knuckles?

My $0.02. The addition of a Momo Mod .07 wheel was one the most significant changes I made to increase my feeling of control over my old G class 993 race car. After I installed it, I could not believe the difference it made in tactility and admonished myself for sticking with the stock 993, four spoke, bus steering wheel for so long. The svelte rim diameter just made the car feel more like a precision instrument rather than a blunt tool.
I also like sitting really close to the wheel and pedals and initially worried about the wheel being too close because of the dish. However, once installed, the Mod .07 was simply sublime for the way I like to fit into a 911.

For what its worth-I wanted more feel and something different than MOMO, so went with Sparco brand black suede, yellow smooth leather centering strip, with mild degree of dish...gives my 1980 bit more of a race car look which I like with my black Rennline pedals.
good luck with your choice. I stressed over the Momo and Sparco websites for 2 weeks...lol.
