Does anyone know this car and if I decide to proceed with a PPI, what shop do you guys recommend?

http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...ngId=350043241

I spoke to the seller and I am waiting to receive a picture of the option codes and additional info they are willing to provide me.

Thanks.

Don't know the car, but I do like the guys at Concourse Auto Werks for a PPI. I do my own wrenching, and service the GT3 in Vegas - but have used these guys in a pinch...

Good luck!

That car has been discussed either here or on the bird in the last month or so. I can't recall the thread but you might search for it.

Why do I not recall my car having a tilt wheel? Angelika gets a tilt wheel, and I don't. Why do Russian chicks get all the cool toys?

From the ad:
Note: The car was stolen from our garage in 2002, 4 months after we bought it, taken on a joyride, abandoned and recovered shortly thereafter. That theft appears on the Carfax.

Would that not render it salvage title ? If so, the price seems way out of line.

It would only give it a salvage title if the insurance totaled it. It doesn't sound like that is the case from the description.

Most likely a salvage. Insurance companies normally wait 30 days and if not recovered you get paid the value of the car. If found at a later date you can retain for about 20 percent of the value as a salvage.

Per the owner, the title is clean.

If anyone finds the thread that discusses this car, lemme know. I'll search now.

Thanks guys

OK.....but heres the problem. The theft on the title search will never go away. Lets say you own it......fast forward 5 years and you want to sell. The theft on the title will be 'your thorn' and will immediately eliminate a large % of your buying audience (salvage or not). Yes, we all say we will never sell and I was one of them......1 year later, I sold because I sacrificed a couple things on my first purchase and looking for the 'right' car.

A stolen car doesn't automatically make it a salvage title. It will if it was stripped down and would cost more to put it back to its original condition than it's market value. If it was only taken for a joyride, then it wouldn't have been stripped down. Thus, the clean title. I don't think that the theft would decrease the value if the car is still in its original condition.
