Default Goodbye 911sc - rocky sale experience

well my car sold to a guy who purchased my 1967 911 18 years ago - he now lives in germany.
it was actually a rocky sale experience as the buyer emailed me that he wanted to buy it(i had another buyer very interested so i told him it was sold), then emailed me the next day explaining he changed his mind and really wanted a cab or targa - then a week later emailed me back saying he wanted it(i had another buyer ready to go and told him it had sold)and sent a non-refundable deposit, then a few days later told me he might have issues getting it into germany because of the mods to the exhaust system.
by that point i sort of had enough of his wishy washy behavior and told him straight out that either he gives up his deposit and i sell the car to the next person in line or wire me the balance of the payment.
he sent me the money.
of course the drama couldn't stop there - after the deal was done, a couple of days later and wanting to make sure all avenues were covered, i explained that now the car is sold(i sent in the sellers report to the DMV)make sure you have it unsured because my insurance won't cover it now that it he is the legal owner - he had the car shipped the next day - i haven't heard from him since sending him emails last week of the photos of the car being loaded last week and the bill of lading - i asked him to email me back to confirm receiving those and he never responded

he must be pissed off or dead but its ashame the sale wasn't a bit smoother.

OH man, big surprise there....

you seemed so reasonable I dont get why he would have become upset - well..a deal is a deal - good for you - strange, I think if the shoe were on the other foot (oh wait it sort of is) you might have a different perspective

Selling or buying a Porsche can be a pleasant experience but sometimes it just doesn't work out that way.

Friends don't let friends buy 996's, except GT3's.

Me too.

I fail to see any correlation between these two situations. The guy in Europe was wishy washy and straining gz along- groovezilla seemed to be intent on buying the 996, but wasn't told the truth about the title. What is your point?

so threaten to keep a guys deposit for having an import issue unresolved?

and not everyone on this planet emails multiple times a day, some email once a week as they actually are not tied to the information super highway like others

even if it is non-refundable,....you sold one car to him already, that says he is serious and I guess an OK fella -

so now (or the other day) you are stuck somewhere with a fishy deal again.... fly a 1000 miles and all the details were not 100% sorted out and the deal is falling apart or struggling....again and the seller is asking for you to get serious or bugger off and loose your non-refundable airplane ticket...it just struck me as similar on some weird plane (no pun)

I dont care either way....really

it's just drama and mildly entertaining at best - anyone know if the same posts are being splattered on the MB forums?> LOL

i'm thinking of opening some psychic reading shops here in seattle - if business slows down for you, let me know if you have some time to train my staff.

to be honest i really enjoyed the comfort of the 996 i sold earlier in the year - now that i am getting older and fatter the 996 seems to be a better match for me.

when i was looking for a 996 last year i wanted a lower mileage example but bought one w/114K(i think) and knew i would sell it soon and eventually find one in the 80K range - i did the clutch/IMS and RMS and i forget the #'s now but i had close to the amount i sold it for into the car - maybe a bit more. no money was made on the 996 i broke even

at the time i sold the 996 i had found the 911sc which sparked my interest - i rebuilt the tranny/new clutch and other tlc items and decided not to pursue the oil leaks or other minor cosmetic items and let the next guy do it. i may have made $300 on the sc - that will make up for all the money i've lost in the past years

the fellow rennlisters that keep bringing up the word "flipping" need their head examined - i've either broke even or lost some money but i love the cars, love taking the trips to california and have done this for 20 years.

BTW, i had the PPI done at swiss motors today - several issues found so i passed on the car - going to relax and wait for the right one to come my way.
