It probably had the USA sealed beams, not H4's

That would be one further step more retarded. You'd have to cut out an H-4 compatible plug, and splice in an H-5 plug. That's like forward-dating the brake lights....oh, wait.

Agreed! But I bet you can find h5's cheaper than some nice h4's

Without question, there exists a price differential,....however: Lumens? Pleaze.....but you're right:::: coulda' been "price-drive" (not performance-driven).

That tail just pisses me off......

BEST!

i've actually met the owner of Columbia Valley luxury cars - he was interested in buying a 99 diesel mercedes i owned about 4 years ago and he stopped by my house when he was in seattle. he was in his early 30's but i forget his name.
if its the same owner he seemed like a good guy and had a good reputation with the local porsche owners in that area. at the time he had a high mileage 964 and 2 993's but again this was years ago. he also was also selling mercedes and i think at the time he had a ferrari for sale. i thought he went out of business because i haven't seen any of his listings in a great while but perhaps he doesn't advertize in the seattle area anymore?

i agree with everyone else in having a PPI done before purchase however it looks like a clean example.

Thanks again guys.
I have the VIN but it doesn't tell me much more than confirming that it's an '84 911.

I spoke with one of the local INWR PCA officers and he was very helpful. He said that he'll try to find out what he can about the car from INWR members in the area of where the car is for sale. See if any of them were involved in the refresh.

I know the tail isn't stock, but it works for me.

I'm confused about the comments regarding the headlights. The seller says that H5's is an upgrade, but I'm seeing on Pelican that Euro H4's is actually an upgrade. If I look for what is for sale as an OEM headlight assembly, Autohauz AZ and other shops only sells the Euro H4 units. But then I see others that sell both H5 and H4. And H1?

What did these cars come with stock?

it came stock with the DOT legal sealed beam units with the sugar scoop trim rings. What would have made more sense is the H4 motorcycle light, which bolts right into the trim ring retainer. This car is a strange brew.

The dashboard is pre-86 and the seats look like the older generation for which the final year was '84, so it sounds correct there.

Looks clean, but the mileage is starting to get up there. As the motor wasn't rebuilt, I would want to know some more about the actual oil consumption...
