911SC 1978 Auto Climate
Just starting to do my new [to me ] toy-probably the last at my age. Objective os to make it a daily driver and the Auto thing doesn't work. Indications are that it was failing since the rod connecting auto to manual emergency lever wasgone. Anyway Pelican can't help when I asked how to regress to manual. Does anyone have the technique? Or am I out of my head? No cracks please. Also where can I get 78 ELECTRIC DIAGRAMS?

Of course the factory manuals, the second set of 4 binders, about $175. Bentley makes a "911SC Maintenance Manual", good source of information, around $75 via internet (list $120).
You may be able to find some that have been scanned onto the internet. However, there are enough complexities I find it nice to have the factory fold-out electrical diagrams to trace things. Bentley did a nice job of subsetting the diagrams by major systems.
If you haven't seen it already, the 911SC FAQ on tech.rennlist.com may have some information of interest.

There is s thread on converting to manual heat on the Pelican BBS <a href="http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=32413" target="_blank">here.</a>
Have you had it apart? Is the little connecting rod missing, or just disconnected?
With the ignition on but engine off, if you turn the **** from off to 1, can you hear the servo working? You should also hear the blower motor in the engine compartment kick on.
There is a pretty comprehensive troubleshooting chart in the Bentley manual (which helped me get mine working). If you post exactly what it is doing, I will look up what the manual says.
Or, there is one listed in the Pelican 911 parts for sale board <a href="http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=71950" target="_blank">here.</a>
<a href="http://www.pelicanparts.com/911/911_Parts/911_electrical_diagrams.htm" target="_blank">Electrical diagrams here</a>, and also in <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0837602904/qid=1025319705/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/002-9953461-8395207" target="_blank">The Bentley service manual</a>

Thanks for the leads. Am looking at diagrams now but havent reached home. Am now convinced will be going to manual-but as yet havent found out how to get the blower running. It runs well when 12v are present from an external source but I can't figure out what activates the blower from the cockpit. Two yellow wires lead back toward the engine compartment and I believe they have something to do with a relay. Still looking.

There is a switch in the manual heat levers.
There are a couple pictures <a href="http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/911_extra_cooling/911_extra_cooling.htm" target="_blank">here.</a>

Does anyone know where the wires (yellow) from the manual switch go? My switch works (opens/closes), and my fan blower works when power is applied, but does not work when the levers are lifted with the car running. Car is a 79SC. Thanks in advance

In my case[ 78SC ] the yellow wires headed toward the engine control the fan - try holding them together with ing on. I didn't have a switch under the Emergency lever so installed a simple on off between the yellow wires. It works. Good Luck Jack
