Post where is speedo transmiter?

I think I have traced my speedo fault to the speedo tranmiter through a process of illimination (borrowed friends dial to test). Can anyone tell me where it is and is it easy to change ?
Thanks.

Hi Colin:

You did not say what year or model Porsche you have so I'll presume an SC or Carrera.

On the right side of the transmssion case, just above and forward of the inner CV flange, you will see a "button" about 25mm in diameter with a small black cable emerging from it. Its held in place with a small wire bung. This is the speedometer sending unit and can easily be unplugged, removed and replaced.

Hope this helps,
